MediaTek shows off Dimensity 9600 Pro in Malaysia with Vivo X500 series coming soon

MediaTek recently held their own Tech Day in Malaysia, where the semiconductor giant showed off their latest flagship mobile chipsets, such as the Dimensity 9600 Pro.

The Dimensity 9600 Pro is a 2nm system-on-chip, featuring a 2+3+3 ‘All Big Core’ CPU, with two C2-Ultra cores running at speeds up to 4.55GHz, three C2-Pro cores at 4.35GHz and another three C2-Pro cores at 3.1GHz. Then there’s also their G2-Ultra NX GPU, along with a dual-NPU design with Dimensity Agentic AI Engine for on-device AI. Rounding things off is the Imagiq 1290 ISP and AI Imagine Fusion Architecture to handle advanced computational photography.

According to MediaTek, these improvements all allow for an up to 17% and 15% improvement in single-core and multi-core performance compared to its predecessor, while still netting an up to 61% reduction in multi-core power consumption.

The Dimensity 9600 Pro will also deliver up to 27% higher peak performance and 24% lower power consumption while gaming, with up to 18% better ray tracing performance too. And as for AI, MediaTek says you can expect up to 51% faster prefill performance along with support for Google’s on-device AISeal security architecture.

Also showcased was the Dimensity 9600M, a 3nm system-on-chip that is aimed as a more accessible flagship processor option for manufacturers. Hardware-wise, it’s basically just a Dimensity 9500 repackaged with MediaTek’s latest AI engine and Dimensity Scheduling Engine for better performance in AI tasks.

As for when you can expect devices powered by MediaTek’s latest flagship processors to appear in Malaysia, Vivo Malaysia showed up at the MediaTek Tech Day to announce that the Vivo X500 Series will be making its local debut by the end of October, so we won’t have to wait too long to try out the Dimensity 9600 Pro for ourselves.
