Malaysia finally has an official broadcaster for the upcoming 2026 World Cup. Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil has confirmed that Malaysians will be able to watch all 2026 Fifa World Cup matches on Unifi TV and RTM.

Announced during his weekly press conference, Fahmi mentioned that all 104 matches will be shown live on Unifi TV, while most of them will be broadcast on FTM in either live or delayed broadcasts. You can watch it through Unifi TV and the RTMKlik app along with the MyTV digital broadcast service.

While adding that he was not personally involved in the negotiations to secure the broadcasting rights, Fahmi did state that the government allocated RM24 million for the rights, with several other main sponsors helping out that will be revealed at a later date.

The upcoming 2026 World Cup will be hosted across three nations in North America, with matches taking place from 11 June till 19 July in the United States, Canada and Mexico. While Unifi TV offers multiple bundles, its Sports Pack at time of writing goes for RM39/month; no mention yet however if this will include the 2026 World Cup or requires an additional add-on subscription.

Malaysia was previously at risk of losing out from being able to watch the 2026 World Cup. The issue largely stems from Fifa’s high asking price for broadcasting rights, with a starting price of around USD50 million. A number of other countries such as India and China remain in limbo over broadcasting rights, as many broadcasters around the world are not willing to pay the fees.
