F1 Bahrain Grand Prix at Sepang will be broadcast live for free on RTM, Anwar says

RTM will be broadcasting the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia 2026 live, so if you weren’t able to get tickets for the race this weekend, you can still catch all the action for free from home. The news was shared by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in a post on X earlier today.
In his post, Anwar said he hopes the live broadcast will give people “across every corner of the country” the chance to feel the thrill of a world-class race from Sepang.
Berita gembira buat seluruh rakyat Malaysia! RTM akan menyiarkan Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix di Malaysia 2026 secara langsung agar kemeriahan perlumbaan ini dapat dinikmati bersama.

You can catch the race on RTM’s OKEY channel, or stream it for free through the RTMKlik website and mobile app on Android and iOS. However, the commentary will be in English, courtesy of beIN Sports.
Here’s the full schedule for the weekend, in Malaysian time:
- Friday, 2 October: Practice 1 (12:30pm to 1:30pm), Practice 2 (4pm to 5pm)
- Saturday, 3 October: Practice 3 (12:30pm to 1:30pm), Qualifying (4pm to 5pm)
- Sunday, 4 October: Race (3pm)

For those who haven’t been following, this year’s Bahrain Grand Prix isn’t actually being held in Bahrain. The race has been relocated to Sepang due to geopolitical tensions in West Asia, following an arrangement between Formula 1, the FIA and the governments of Malaysia and Bahrain.
The move also brings Formula 1 back to Sepang for the first time in nine years, after the circuit last hosted an F1 race in 2017. While this weekend’s event remains officially the Bahrain Grand Prix, it will still be a exciting opportunity for Malaysian fans to see Formula 1 action return to the Sepang International Circuit.
