iPhone 11 Series: Still the worth the price in Malaysia?

iPhone 11 vs iPhone 11 Pro vs iPhone 11 Pro Max: Still the worth the price in Malaysia?

Apple brought the iPhone 11 series to the mainstage in 2019, succeeding the iPhone XR introduced the year before. With the iPhone 14 set to take the spotlight later this year, is the iPhone 11 still worth the price in Malaysia?

For many, the answer is yes.

Older iPhone models such as the iPhone 11 series are often still in demand due to its decreasing price. In Malaysia, you’ll find that the price of an iPhone 11 has dropped to RM2199, compared to RM3599 when it was first released.

Many still fancy the iPhone 11 despite it being 3-years old simply because the features – which were Apple’s top of the line back then – still rivals models from other brands released in 2022. The iPhone’s longevity as well as its quality is what keeps its appeal through the years.

But with three iPhone 11 models to choose from, which should you go for? And what exactly is the difference? Don’t fret. Here’s the difference between the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max.

Design and Material

The most noticeable difference between the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pros is the camera housing. The iPhone 11 only needs to house a dual camera setup, where else the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max accommodates a third lens to fit the tri-camera setup. There isn’t too big a difference in thickness. The iPhone 11 sits at an 8.3mm thickness, while both the iPhone Pros is slimmer at only 8.1mm.

In terms of materials, the iPhone 11 Pros are fitted with textured matte glass with polished stainless steel sides. On the other hand, the iPhone 11 is a little more glossy with its standard glass and aluminum sides.

You’ll get two very different colour options depending on whether you purchase the iPhone 11 or any of the iPhone 11 Pros. For the iPhone 11, you can decide between Purple, Yellow, Green, Black, White, or Product(RED). For the iPhone 11 Pros, its a choice between Midnight Green, Silver, Space Grey, and Gold.

The iPhone 11 Pro Max price starts at RM4899 in Malaysia. Get yours today!

Display

(From Left) The iPhone 11 (6.1-inch display), iPhone 11 Pro (5.8-inch display), and iPhone 11 Pro Max (6.5-inch display)

One of the main difference between all three variants is the display size.

  • iPhone 11: 6.1-inch LCD display with Retina HD Display; 1792 x 828px resolution, with 625nits maximum brightness.

  • iPhone 11 Pro: 5.8-inch OLED display with Super Retina, 2436 x 1125px resolution, with 800nits maximum brightness. Supports HDR content.

  • iPhone 11 Pro Max: 6.5-inch OLED display with Super Retina, 2688 x 1242px resolution, with 800nits maximum brightness. Supports HDR content.

As you can see, the iPhone 11 Pro is the smallest of the lot but its display is still superior than the bigger iPhone 11. Where the iPhone 11 Pro lacks in size it makes up with its OLED Super Retina and high resolution. This is not to say the iPhone 11 is inferior. The 1792 x 828 resolution on the iPhone 11 is more than decent, and the max brightness of 625nits is more than sufficient for visibility under sunny conditions. However, topping the list in both size and resolution is the iPhone 11 Pro Max with its 6.5-inch OLED Super Retina display and 2688 x 1242px resolution.

For only RM3899, the iPhone 11 Pro could be yours!

Camera

Apple kept the dual camera system on the iPhone 11 and bestowed the triple rear camera into the iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max.

The camera systems on all the iPhone 11 series consists of a 12MP wide camera with aperture f/1.8 and Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), and a 12MP ultra-wide camera with aperture f/2.4 and a 120-degree field-of-view.

The differentiator between the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pros is the addition of a telephoto lens. Hence, a triple camera system. The telephoto lens is 12MP with aperture f/2.0, supported with OIS and 2x optical zoom.

All the iPhone 11 models have the highly praised Night Mode and Smart HDR.

You know what’s different. But what’s the same?

Just as there are many differences, there are also various similarities in the iPhone 11 series. For starters, all variants run on the same processor – the A13 Bionic chip, renowned for producing top-tier performance whilst consuming lesser power.

All models of the iPhone 11 will have Face ID as an unlocking alternative. Qi wireless charging is also available on all devices, with wired fast charging also an option.

Most importantly, the iPhone 11 is still receiving updates and is on the list to receive the latest iOS 16 expected to be pushed out in September.

The verdict

There’s lots to mull over when deciding on a smartphone. Camera enthusiast might be more inclined to get the 11 Pro or 11 Pro Max for its triple camera system, while others might see the added telephoto lens as unnecessary. Similarly, some will view the bigger screen on the Pro Max as a necessity, while others will be contented with the smaller display of the iPhone 11 Pro.

At the end of the day, it all boils down to personal preference. Whichever variant you choose, we’re confident the iPhone 11 series is a great choice even in 2022, and is very much still worth the price in Malaysia.

TruSleep 2.0 can now identify six major sleep-related issues, and offer up to 200 science-based suggestions. Go in-depth to your sleeping patterns by tracking your deep sleep, REM sleep, and light sleep and see how you perform when you’re on the zzz’s.
