Instagram finally lets users rearrange their profile grid

By Alyaa Najwa June 10, 2026

Instagram has officially rolled out one of its most requested features, the ability to rearrange posts on a profile grid. The update gives users greater control over how their profiles look without needing to delete, archive or repost content.

Previously, Instagram profiles displayed posts in reverse chronological order, with users only able to pin up to three posts at the top of their profile. With the new Grid Reordering feature, users can now move posts around freely and customise the layout of their profile grid.

The feature had been teased by Instagram head Adam Mosseri more than a year ago before entering testing with a limited number of users. It is now being rolled out widely on both Android and iPhone devices.

How to rearrange your Instagram grid

Once the feature is available on your account:

  1. Open Instagram and go to your profile.
  2. Long-press on a post or access the option through Edit Profile.
  3. Select “Reorder Grid”.
  4. Drag and drop posts into your preferred positions.
  5. Save the new layout.

Pinned posts will continue to remain at the top of the profile even after other posts are rearranged.

The new grid customisation tool offers a way for users to regain more control over how their profiles are presented.

Instagram says the rollout is happening gradually, so some users may receive the feature later than others.
