Insta360 GO 3 announced, priced from RM1,779

July 3, 2023

Insta360 last week announced an update to its popular GO line of action cameras, the GO 3, which is claimed to be its smallest and lightest action camera yet. Priced from RM1,779 and available on its Official Shopee Page, the GO 3 retains its impressively tiny and extremely light form factor, weighing in at only 35 grams for the latest iteration.

The Insta360 GO 3 features an improved sensor, sporting a 35mm ultra wide lens with recording capabilities of up to 2.7k resolution videos at 30fps versus its predecessor’s maximum 1440p recording resolution. It is also IPX8 water resistant rated, which should theoretically allow for the GO 3 to be good for depths of up to 5 metres underwater.

Impressively, the GO 3 itself is actually about the size of a human thumb and is able to be used independently on its own for recording. However, the GO 3 does come together with an Action Pod in the box, which when attached will look and feel more like a conventional action camera. The Action Pod is also able to double up as a remote screen and controller for the GO 3, and they are able to be used separately or in tandem with each other.

In terms of battery performance, Insta360 says that the GO 3 is able to record 1080p 30fps videos for 45 minutes on its own, and 170 minutes when attached to the Action Pod.

With improved heat dissipation on the GO 3 as well, Insta360 has now removed the 30 minute per clip recording limit that was present in its predecessor. Instead, the camera will now continuously record until it is either told to stop, or runs out of battery and/or storage.

The Insta360 GO 3 is available in 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB configurations (no expandable storage options available sadly), and has a slew of additional add-on packages available for purchase, such as the “creator kit” or “bike kit”. Prices start at RM1,779 and it is available for pre-orders right now on its Official Shopee Page, with deliveries slated to begin in a few weeks.
