Google Pixel 9a in Malaysia: 7 years OS updates, Tensor G4 chip, starts at RM2,699
The Google Pixel 9a is now officially available for purchase in Malaysia. It is the most affordable model in the Pixel 9 range, and is sold in two configurations: a 128GB variant priced at RM2,699, and a 256GB variant priced at RM3,199. The phone comes in four colours: Iris, Peony, Porcelain, and Obsidian.
Interested buyers can purchase the Pixel 9a at Google’s official online platforms on Shopee and Lazada, as well as at partnering retailers including Urban Republic, TMT, senQ, and Senheng. Alternatively, telco brands CelcomDigi, Maxis, and U Mobile are also offering the device.

Despite being the budget-friendlier model, the Pixel 9a will utilize the same Tensor G4 chip that’s also found on the flagship models in the series.
Displays too are largely similar with the Pixel 9a sporting the same 6.3″ Actua OLED display offering 1080×2424 resolution, 120Hz refresh rates, and 2,700nits peak brightness. The main difference is that the Pixel 9a is protected by Gorilla Glass 3, while flagship Pixel 9 uses sturdier Gorilla Glass Victus 2.
When it comes to cameras, the Pixel 9a shoots with a dual array consisting of a 48MP main camera with OIS and a 13MP ultrawide. Elsewhere at the front is a 13MP selfie shooter. These come with the suite of Google’s signature editing features, including Add Me, Best Take, Magic Erase, and Magic Editor, to name a few.
As for battery, the Pixel 9a packs a 5,100mAh battery with 23W wired charging. The phone is IP68-rated for dust and water resistance. And, where connectivity is concerned, it supports Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, and NFC.
A noteworthy mention is that Google is giving the Pixel 9a the same treatment as the flagship model in terms of software. That means 7 years of OS and security updates that will see the device in good shape until 2032.
