Former Selangor deputy chief police officer becomes Tune Talk’s new brand ambassador

By Raymond Saw September 8, 2026

Tune Talk has appointed former Selangor Deputy Chief Police Officer Dato’ Sasikala Devi Subramaniam as its new brand ambassador for Epik+ Family Safe, its family prepaid plan with network-level parental controls.

Dato’ Sasikala brings more than 35 years of experience with the Royal Malaysia Police, including senior roles in the Commercial Crime and Narcotics Crime Investigation Departments. She will support Tune Talk’s public education efforts on child online safety and help parents better understand the risks children face online.

“For many children, the first mobile connection is the beginning of their digital life. Safety should begin there too. Children should not have to choose between being connected and being protected. Parents should not have to face this responsibility alone.

Every institution that touches a child’s digital life, from families and schools to operators, platforms, regulators and enforcement agencies, has a role to play before harm becomes a crisis,” Dato’ Sasikala Devi Subramaniam

She added that child online safety should focus more on prevention rather than simply responding after an incident has occurred. This includes better digital literacy, clearer reporting channels, family digital agreements and stronger safeguards from a child’s first experience with connected devices.

Dato’ Sasikala also said recent measures such as Malaysia’s Online Safety Act and the restriction of social media accounts for children under 16 are important, but laws and content filters alone cannot fully protect children.

“Protecting children today must extend beyond the physical environments we can see. Families are navigating a digital world that changes rapidly, often without clear or practical guidance.

Dato’ Sasikala brings the experience, integrity and public-service perspective needed to make this conversation meaningful. Together, we want to help parents move from awareness to action,” – Gurtaj Singh Padda, Tune Talk co-founder and CEO

Tune Talk’s Epik+ Family Safe meanwhile provides another layer of protection through network-level parental controls. Parents can select protection levels and block certain categories of content, subject to the plan’s terms.

The telco added that it will continue working with parents, educators, policymakers and industry partners to promote safer digital participation for children and families.
