The Epson EcoTank M2050 is a monochrome ink tank printer, copier and scanner designed for efficiency and cost-effectiveness. PrecisionCore Heat-Free Technology for print & copy
This is the technology that enables high-speed printing (up to 14 images per minute; a different measurement compared to the traditional pages per minute to cater for complex images as opposed to text print). Power consumption is lower too, as no heat is required during the ink ejection process. Each page comes out cool and ready to be used immediately compared to some other printers that output printed pages with some heat and takes time to cool down.
The M2050 uses DURAbrite ET pigment ink, producing sharp, water-resistant printouts, ensuring durability and professional quality for important documents.
Photocopying was also a very simple operation with a touch of the button and the output matches the original very closely.
User-Friendly Features
The printer includes a 1.44-inch LCD screen for easy navigation and supports the Epson Smart Panel app, allowing for convenient setup, printing, scanning, and copying directly from mobile devices.
The M2050 printer supports Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, and Ethernet, ensuring connectivity options to suit various office environments. We managed to set it up within 4 minutes after installing the printer driver and hooking up the printer to the Wi-Fi network.
Apart from wireless connectivity, it also has wired printing options with a USB 2.0 input at the back of the printer for a even faster setup, if you plan to not move the printer from its position much.
Compact and Sustainable Design
The M2050 features a compact, space-saving design with an integrated ink tank, making it ideal for small office spaces and homes. It is about 4 mouse-lengths in width and 5kg in weight so you can either leave it on a desk or nearby rack comfortably without worrying about it’s portability.
Its body utilizes 20% recycled plastic, packaging uses over 80% recycled cardboard, reflecting their commitment to environmental sustainability.
Epson stands by its quality assurance with a confident 4 years warranty or 50,000 prints (whichever comes first) for the entire printer, including the printhead, which is one of the crucial parts for high volume printing.
One feature which we wished it had was automatic 2-sided printing to save paper. Technically, 2-sided is still possible but it will be too much of a hassle taking the print and loading the paper back in the right orientation to ensure a proper print-out.
High Page Yield and Low Printing Costs
Equipped with a high-capacity ink tank that can be filled by the Epson 005 ink, the M2050 delivers an ultra-high yield of up to 6,000 pages per big ink bottle (RM36), this works out to be as low as RM0.006 per page.
