Disney+ Hotstar Malaysia will undergo price surge starting 24th April
DIsney+ Hotstar Malaysia has just confirmed that it will restructure its pricing and subscription plans come 24th April 2024.
The new model will see two subscription plans available for users: Disney+ Hotstar Basic Plan and Disney+ Hotstar Premium Plan.
As for payments, users can decide on annual or monthly payments for the Basic Plan, whereas for the Premium Plan, an annual, monthly, and quarterly payment option is available.
Prices for the new Disney+ Hotstar plans are as indicated below:

- Annual Basic Plan – RM214.90 per year
- Annual Premium Plan – RM289.90 per year
- Monthly Basic Plan – RM24.90 per month
- Monthly Premium Plan – RM39.90 per month
- Quarterly Premium Plan – RM79.90 per quarter (3 months)
On its helpdesk, Disney+ Hotstar clarifies that the new subscription packages will be offered from 24th April 2024 onwards, and existing customers will see a price change in their billing period on or after 24th April.
Additionally, all existing Disney+ Hotstar users will transition to the Disney+ Hotstar Premium Quarterly Plan, which means a price hike from RM54.50 to RM79.90 every three months.
Difference between Disney+ Hotstar Basic Plan and Disney+ Hotstar Premium Plan
Essentially, the difference between the Basic and Premium Disney+ Hotstar plans is the number of concurrent streaming allowed, maximum device logins, and highest video quality available.
While the Basic plan allows for only one stream per login, the Premium plan allows up to three concurrent streams, which is perhaps more suited for families. The maximum number of devices you can log in per account also differs, with the Basic Plan allowing only three devices in contrast with the 10 devices allowed if you subscribe to the Premium plan.
Although users of either subscription plans will have access to all titles, Basic Plan subscribers will be limited to streaming in Full HD (1080p), while Premium subscribers can enjoy up to 4K UHD (2160p).
