CMF’s first portable speakers, the Speaker S and Speaker M, are coming to Malaysia soon

CMF has announced its first ever portable speakers, the CMF Speaker S and CMF Speaker M. The smaller Speaker S is the one to throw in your bag, with a built-in attachment point so you can hang it off a strap or a carabiner, while the larger Speaker M gets an integrated handle and is meant to sit on a desk or shelf at home.

Both speakers come in White, Dark Grey, Orange and Turquoise, and stick to CMF’s familiar geometric design. The front panels and knobs are swappable too, and they also support 3D-printable custom designs if you want to make yours a little more personal.

On the audio side, the Speaker S uses a 45mm full-range driver with dual passive radiators, putting out up to 10W RMS across a 70Hz to 20kHz frequency range. The Speaker M steps things up with a closed-box setup made up of a 25W woofer and a 10W tweeter, for a total of 35W RMS across 60Hz to 20kHz. Both speakers also come with Adaptive Tuning, which adjusts the output and EQ in real time, along with an Ultra Bass mode, a Wide Soundstage mode and four EQ presets in the Nothing X app.

If one speaker isn’t enough, you can pair two identical units together for proper left-and-right Stereo Mode. There’s also an Auracast-based Party Mode, which syncs playback across two or more compatible speakers, including supported speakers from other brands.

For connectivity, both models support Bluetooth 6.0, NFC tap-to-pair, Google Fast Pair and Microsoft Swift Pair, as well as dual-device connection so you can switch between your phone and laptop without re-pairing. You can also play audio over USB-C for lower latency, while an Auto Wake Up feature turns the speaker back on when a paired device reconnects, as long as it’s plugged into power. Controls are handled by a physical knob for playback, volume and Ultra Bass, with separate buttons for power, Bluetooth pairing and Auracast.

As for durability, both speakers are IP68-rated and can be submerged in up to 1.5 metres of water for up to 30 minutes. Battery life is rated at up to 18 hours at 50% volume with Ultra Bass turned on, and a 10-minute charge gets you up to an hour of playback.

In the UK, the CMF Speaker S is priced at £49 (~RM264), while the Speaker M goes for £99 (~RM534). CMF has yet to reveal Malaysian pricing, with local availability details to be announced at a later date.
