By Timothy Teoh June 28, 2024

The era of AI PCs takes another step forward with the recent launch of the ASUS Vivobook S 15 (S5507). ASUS’ latest addition is the first concrete step by the brand to embrace AI in their laptops by integrating the Snapdragon X Elite platform. The Snapdragon X Elite is touted to drive performance in AI-related functions thanks to the inclusion of the Qualcomm Oryon CPU.

Performance is further boosted by the 32GB LPDDR5X RAM and the 1TB SSD storage that comes with the laptop.

Additionally, the Vivobook S 15 is also ASUS’ first Copilot+ PC, enabling users to access the suite of Windows AI tools through the dedicated Copilot+ key.

On a less AI-related note, the Vivobook sports a 15.6″ ASUS Lumina OLED display, offering 3K (2880 x 1620) resolution and 120Hz refresh rate.

The laptop itself is a reasonably portable option, weighing 1.42kg with a thickness of 14.7mm. Despite that, it comes with a plethora of ports including 2x USB4 ports, 2x USB Type-A ports, 1x HDMI 2.1 port, 1x MicroSD card reader, and an audio jack.

Other noteworthy features includes the customizable single-zone backlight keyboard, Harman Kardon speakers with Dolby Atmos, as well as its 70Wh battery.

In terms of connectivity, the laptop has support for Wi-Fi 7 as well as Bluetooth 5.4

The ASUS Vivobook S 15 (S5507) retails for RM6,299, and is now available for pre-orders starting today onwards until 9 July 2024. Purchases within this period will come with a complimentary bundle worth RM698 consisting of a 4-port 100W GaN USB charger and a 1-year extended warranty coverage, while stocks last.

Pre-order can be made via the ASUS eStore, or on the ASUS official store on Shopee.

    By Editor June 26, 2024

Just about a month after the launch of the Pad 6S Pro, Xiaomi is once again adding to its tablet portfolio, this time under the Redmi sub-brand. The new Redmi Pad Pro serves as an affordable alternative with the 6GB+128GB variant retailing at RM1,099 and the 8GB+256GB variant at RM1,499.

However, there will be an early bird promo running from now until 7th July 2024. During this period, prices for the 6GB+128GB model will drop to RM999, available on online platforms only. Meanwhile, purchases for the 8GB+256GB model will come with a free Redmi Pad Pro Keyboard when you purchase on either online platforms or authorized stores.

Your can purchase the Redmi Pad Pro online at mi.com, or on the Xiaomi official store on Shopee and Lazada.

    Redmi Pad Pro specs

The Redmi Pad Pro sports a 12.1″ LCD display offering 2.5K (2560×1600) resolution and 120Hz refresh rate, all protected under a layer of Gorilla Glass 3. For eye protection, the display has received Low Blue Light, Flicker Free, and Circadian Friendly certifications from TUV Rheinland.

As indicated earlier, the Redmi Pad Pro comes with up to 256GB storage, but this is expandable up to 1.5TB via external storage. Powering the tablet is the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset, paired with a 10,000mAh battery to keep things running. On that note, it supports 33W wired charging through its USB-C port.

For video conferencing and selfies, the tablet relies on an 8MP front camera placed on the landscape edge. Elsewhere at the rear panel is yet another 8MP camera. One of the key features of the Pad Pro is its quad stereo speakers with support for Dolby Atmos. Alternatively, there’s also a 3.5mm headphone jack for wired audio peripherals.

The Redmi Pad Pro is available only with Wi-Fi, with the tablet supporting up to Wi-Fi 6.

It comes in three colours: Graphite Gray, Mint Green, and Ocean Blue.

For a complete tablet PC experience, the Redmi Pad Pro is compatible with the Pad Pro Smart Keyboard and Redmi Smart Pen. These are not included in the purchase, and is priced at RM399 and RM199 respectively. It’s worth mentioning that the Smart Keyboard comes with a pen holder just for the Smart Pen so you can keep things compact and close to you.
