iPad Mini specs and features

The iPad Mini now features an 8.5-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display, slightly larger than before while keeping the same footprint thanks to 24% thinner bezels. It reaches up to 1,200 nits of peak brightness and 600 nits full-screen for SDR and HDR content, with a 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio, P3 wide colour support and a minimum brightness of just 1 nit. There’s also a nano-texture glass option to cut glare when using it outdoors.

Despite the bigger screen, the tablet is just 5.4mm thin and carries an IP67 rating, giving it protection against water and dust.

Under the hood is the A20 Pro chip, built on a 2nm process, with up to a 6-core CPU and a 7-core GPU that has Neural Accelerators in each core. It also supports hardware-accelerated ray tracing and mesh shading for gaming and 3D work. The 512GB model goes a step further with a Dual 16-core Neural Engine for heavier on-device AI tasks. It runs iPadOS 27 out of the box, with extended display support for external monitors coming in iPadOS 27.2.

As for its cameras, the 12MP Center Stage front camera now sits on the landscape edge for video calls, while the 12MP Wide rear camera records 4K video at up to 60fps and gets an Adaptive True Tone flash for better document scanning. Audio is handled by what Apple calls an Acoustic Display, with woofers paired through the screen and tweeters tucked between the glass and the aluminium body.

Other features of note include Apple’s N1 chip for Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and Thread support, the C2 cellular modem with eSIM on cellular models, fast-charging support and compatibility with both the Apple Pencil Pro and Apple Pencil (USB-C).
