Apple Home Collection: Smart cameras, thermostats and door lock built with LG and Schneider Electric

Apple has announced the Apple Home Collection, a new lineup of smart home accessories designed together with LG Electronics and Schneider Electric. It includes indoor and outdoor cameras, a video doorbell, a smart door lock, thermostats and temperature sensors, all of which are set up with a single tap of an iPhone and managed entirely through the Apple Home app.

The bulk of the lineup comes from LG, which is making four cameras: a Video Doorbell, a Floodlight Cam, an Outdoor Cam and an Indoor Cam. All four record video at up to 2.5K resolution and can recognise people, familiar faces, pets, vehicles and packages. The Video Doorbell has a second, bottom-facing full HD camera for keeping an eye on parcels, along with a built-in spotlight, while the Floodlight Cam gets dual floodlights that switch on when motion is detected.

The Indoor Cam meanwhile can physically tilt itself up and down, pointing away from the room to stop monitoring as soon as the first member of the household gets home. There’s no separate camera subscription either, as footage is stored on iCloud+ with 10 days of event history. On eligible iCloud+ plans, Apple Intelligence adds automatic video summaries and lets you search footage using natural language.

LG is also behind the Smart Deadbolt Lock, which uses Ultra Wideband to sense when you’re approaching the door and unlocks automatically if you’re carrying a compatible iPhone or Apple Watch with a home key. You can also tap to unlock, use the built-in PIN pad or fall back on a hidden backup key slot, and the lock will alert you if the door is left open or tampered with. It supports Matter and Aliro, and works locally, so its core functions still work without an internet connection.

On the climate side, there are two Smart Thermostats, one from LG and one from Schneider Electric, along with standalone temperature and humidity sensors from both brands. The thermostats can automatically adjust the temperature depending on whether someone is home, asleep or away, and support Matter as well as on-device wire detection for easier DIY installation.

Unfortunately for Malaysians, the Apple Home Collection will initially launch only in the US, the UK, and Canada starting this December, with select accessories arriving in early 2027. Apple has yet to reveal pricing for the lineup. Much like the Apple HomeView hub, which hits shelves on 13 November and skips Malaysia, there is no official word on when or if these smart home accessories will reach our shores.
