Along side the unveiling of the brand’s flagship Xiaomi 15 series smartphones, Xiaomi has also introduced two new tablets. The Xiaomi Pad 7 series consists of the standard Xiaomi Pad 7 and the Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro, both of which are touted to be ‘AI-powered productivity tablets.”

As such, AI is unsurprisingly central to the tablets. They are both integrated with Xiaomi HyperAI, which supports a suite of easily accessible AI features, such as AI Writing, AI Speech Recognition, AI Calculator, and AI Art with Mi Canvas.

Similarities extend to displays, where both tablets sport a 11.2″ screen offering 3.2K (3200×2136) resolution and 144Hz refresh rates, all in a 3:2 aspect ratio. Additionally, they have also achieved TUV Rheinland Certifications to enhance visual comfort.

Despite its sizeable form factor, the tablets only weigh 500g. They’ve even managed to fit in Dolby Atmos quad speakers for superior audio.

That being said, the Pro model is undoubtedly more powerful with a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset. This compared to the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 CPU on the base model. You’ll also get higher-res cameras on the Pad 7 Pro, consisting of a 50MP rear camera and 32MP front camera. The standard model, on the other hand, is equipped with a 13MP rear camera and 8MP front camera.

The Pro model also supports Wi-Fi 7 for faster connectivity and includes a side fingerprint sensor, while the Pad 7 only supports up to Wi-Fi 6E with no side fingerprint sensor.

While they both share an 8,850mAh large battery, the Pad 7 Pro supports faster 67W wired charging compared to the 45W on the Pad 7.

The Xiaomi Pad 7 Series is available in Blue, Gray, and Green. For added user experience, both tablets are compatible with Xiaomi Focus Keyboard and Xiaomi Focus Pen.

Xiaomi 15 series receives global launch; Pre-orders now open, price starts RM3,499

By Timothy Teoh March 03, 2025

Xiaomi has just wrapped up the global launch of the Xiaomi 15 series, with local pricing, available configurations, and pre-order details already confirmed by Xiaomi Malaysia.

Like last year, the Xiaomi 15 series will consist of only the base Xiaomi 15 and the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, with the latter being the series-topping model – and for good reason too.

Xiaomi’s renowned collaboration with Leica is proving to be fruitful, with the partnership resulting in superior camera performance over its rivals. This year, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra looks to further stamp that position by incorporating a 1″ Sony LYT-900 sensor behind the Leica 50MP main camera. On paper at least, the camera provides better low-light performance as well as improved dynamic range. Additionally, the main camera utilizes Leica Summilux optical lens featuring an f/1.63 aperture and variable focal lengths of 23mm, 28mm, and 35mm.

Flanking the main camera are a 70mm 50MP floating telephoto lens, a 100mm 200MP ultra telephoto lens, and a 50MP ultra-wide lens. All cameras, excluding the ultra-wide, are equipped with OIS. In terms of video recording, the phone is able to shoot in 8K at 30fps or 4K at 30/60/120fps. There’s also a 32MP in-display front camera for selfies.

Cameras aside, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is powered by Qualcomm’s leading Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. It is the larger variant in the series, boasting a 6.73″ AMOLED display offering WQHD+ (3200×1440) resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and 3,200nits peak brightness.

To provide all-round protection, Xiaomi has fortified the phone with what they coin the Xiaomi Guardian Structure. This includes Xiaomi’s Shield Glass 2.0, which they claim offers 16x better drop resistance, as well as a high-strength CNC-crafted aluminum frame, and Gorilla Glass 7i to protect the camera module. On that note, the device is IP68-rated for dust and water resistance.

Keeping the phone running is a 5,410mAh battery supporting 90W wired charging and 80W wireless charging.

The Xiaomi 15 Ultra comes in three designs this year. Aside from the standard Black and White colourways, the phone now has the option of a dual-tone Silver Chrome design, blending both aerospace-grade glass fiber and PU leather.

Like the Ultra models of yesteryear, you can pair the phone with an external photography kit that’s sold separately. This attachment features a whole set of controls designed to mimic those of an actual camera, including thumb support, shutter buttons, and a 67mm filter adapter ring.

Onto the Xiaomi 15, this is the smaller model in the series with a 6.36″ CrystalRes AMOLED display offering 2670×1200 resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and 3,200nits peak brightness. Like its Ultra cousin, it runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor.

The base Xiaomi 15 is equipped with a triple Leica camera setup, the highlight of which is the 50MP OIS main camera with a Light Fusion 900 sensor and a 23mm equivalent focal length. It is flanked by a 50MP OIS floating telephoto and a 50MP ultra-wide lens. You will still have decent recording capabilities, with 8K at 24/30fps and 4K at 24/30/60 fps.

It retains the 32MP in-display selfie camera.

Keeping the lights on is a 5,240mAh battery supporting 90W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.

While it seems to have missed out on the Guardian Structure, it retains IP68 dust and water resistance.

The Xiaomi 15 is available in three standard colours: Black, White, and Green, with the addition of an all-new Liquid Silver design featuring shimmering curves made from heat-bent glass.
