Xiaomi Malaysia has expanded its smartphone catalogue with the launch of the Xiaomi 14T Series. Taking after the flagship 14 Series which launched early this year, the 14T Series embodies much of the core features, the hallmark of which is the co-engineered Leica cameras.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Xiaomi 14T Series will also come with a suite of Google AI features, including Circle to Search, AI interpreter, speech-to-text transcription, and AI Eraser Pro.

Xiaomi 14T Pro specs

Starting first with the Xiaomi 14T Pro, this is the upper mid-range offering in the series with prices starting from RM2,599, going all the way up to RM3,499.

You’ll find a triple camera system led by the 50MP Leica main camera boasting Leica’s Summilux optical lens. This is further backed by the Light Fusion 900 image sensor that is said to perform excellently in low light environments. Flanking the main camera is the 50MP Leica telephoto lens and 12MP ultra-wide lens.

In its totality, the camera array offers five focal lengths, specifically 15mm, 23mm, 46mm, 60mm, and 120mm.

On the non-camera side, the 14T Pro is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ processor, paired together with the Immortalis-G720 GPU to aid in gaming and AI performance. You’ll find a 6.67″ AMOLED CrystalRes display offering 1.5K (2712×1220) resolution with DCI-P3 color coverage. It also has 144Hz refresh rates and 4,000nits peak brightness.

Powering the smartphone is a 5,000mAh battery supporting 120W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.

Available in Titan Gray, Titan Blue, and Titan Black, the Xiaomi 14T Pro is offered in three configurations: a 12GB+256GB variant priced at RM2,599, a 12GB+512GB variant priced at RM2,999, and a 12GB+1TB variant priced at RM3,499.

Early birds who purchase the device will receive free gifts worth RM2,276 while stocks last. These gifts include the Xiaomi OpenWear Stereo Earphones and Xiaomi HyperCharge Combo (120W).

Xiaomi 14T specs

Moving on to the Xiaomi 14T, this is the wallet-friendly model with prices starting at RM1,899. Despite it, you’ll still get the benefit of Leica’s triple camera system.

The main camera is of a similar make-up with 50MP Leica Summilux optical lens. This time, however, it is supported with the Sony IMX906 image sensor. Alongside the main camera is yet again a 50MP Leica telephoto lens and 12MP Leica ultra-wide. Altogether, the camera system offers four focal lengths ranging from 15mm to 100mm.

MediaTek makes another appearance here, this time with the Dimensity 8300-Ultra. You’ll still have the robust 5,000mAh battery, though charging is slashed down to 67W and you’ll miss out on wireless charging.

Displays remain the same with the 6.67″ AMOLED CrystalRes display, 1.5K (2712×1220) resolution, 144Hz refresh rates, 4,000nits peak brightness, and DCI-P3 colour coverage.

The Xiaomi 14T is available in two memory configurations: 12GB+256GB for RM1,899, and 12GB+512GB for RM2,199. The device is offered in Titan Blue, Titan Black, and Lemon Green.

There will be an early bird promo up for grabs, with early buyers receiving a pair of Redmi Buds 5 Pro and the Xiaomi HyperCharge Combo (67W) while stocks last.

Interested buyers can purchase the Xiaomi 14T Series on Xiaomi’s official online platforms on mi.com, Shopee, and Lazada.

Xiaomi 14T Pro: A gateway to Leica’s classy co-engineered cameras

By Timothy Teoh September 27, 2024

Is the Xiaomi and Leica collaboration the best that has ever been put together? They certainly make a strong case. The Leica prowess on the Xiaomi 14 Series has been a hit, and now they are extending this thriving partnership through the newly launched Xiaomi 14T Pro.

Xiaomi’s T Series is known for encapsulating the most-loved features of its flagship into a price-friendly form. This includes Leica’s optical expertise, which positions the Xiaomi 14T Pro as a gateway for consumers to experience the emerging era of Leica smartphone photography – all without breaking the bank.

With the renowned image quality that Leica co-engineered cameras bring, premium mobile photography is more accessible than ever.

For this year’s Xiaomi 14T Pro, Xiaomi builds on the success of its predecessors with a host of improvements, including enhanced low-light capabilities and upgraded image sensors, all while staying true to Leica’s iconic style.

    Picture perfect, even at night

Anyone who has dipped their toes into photography will understand the significance of these co-engineered Leica cameras. Earning the seal of approval from the brand largely associated with pioneering the photography movement is an indicator of just how good these cameras are.

Over the century, Leica has built on its reputation by manufacturing high-standard camera lenses, one of these being the Summilux line, which has been in production since 1959. If you were ever a photography enthusiast, there’s a high chance you would have dreamt of adding the Summilux to your arsenal.

Well, all that is now at your fingertips with the Xiaomi 14T Pro, whose cameras are built around the quality that Summilux lenses produce. This means lightning-quick lenses to capture split-second moments, and perhaps more impressively, improved low-light performance that makes every night shot a masterpiece.

No need to wait for golden hour when every shot is gold, regardless of the hour, with the Xiaomi 14T Pro.

Light Fusion 900 Image sensor brings colours to life

We’ve all felt the bitter disappointment of trying to capture sprawling landscapes with our phone cameras, only to discover that the colours appear washed out and dull. This won’t be the case anymore now that the Xiaomi 14T Pro is graced with the Light Fusion 900 image sensor.

Simply put, the Light Fusion 900 sensor enhances the high dynamic range (HDR) performance on the cameras, leading to colours that are vibrant and true-to-life. This allows you to capture scenes as they appear in the moment, and a chance to reminisce upon these precious still captures of time. Additionally, the new sensor reduces hindrances such as ghosting and flares, keeping every shot clean.

‘Pictures don’t do it justice?’ In this case, they do.

Oh, and there’s also the real-time HDR preview so you can determine the clarity and colour range you wish to achieve. No more playing guesswork and anticipation, see in real time the photos you are destined to capture, all before even hitting the shutter.

Versatile lenses for all types of photography

An eye for photography can only get you so far without versatility. The tools to get up close, or conversely, to take in an entire scene in a frame, are as important to a photographer as water is to plants.

It’s why professional photographers have holsters upon holsters of lenses slung around their waist. Quickly interchanging between lenses is crucial in getting the shot, which is why the five focal lengths on the Xiaomi 14T Pro play such an important role.

These carefully curated focal lengths encapsulate the ideal range for all types of photography; from cityscapes and mountain peaks to street photography and close-up portraits. With a focal range between 15mm and 120mm, everyone can experience unmatched versatility in their mobile photography journey, all with just a tap of a finger.

Master lens for a master photographer

Look back upon the many centuries of masterful paintings that have ever been created, and you’ll find that many of them are portraits. Think about it. Portraits such as the Mona Lisa and Girl with a Pearl Earring are regarded as timeless, not just because they are technically difficult to achieve, but because they capture the soul of the viewer.

Portraits, whether painted on an oil canvas or captured in digital format, are longstanding and proven art forms. So it’s only right that the Xiaomi 14T Pro offers the chance to express your creativity with the Master-lens portrait system.

The Master-lens system – accessible only in Portrait mode – gives you a variety of portrait styles that best suit your vision. Covering four focal lengths most appropriate for portraits, the Master-lens system allows you to select between Documentary (35mm), Swirly bokeh (50mm), Portrait (75mm), and Soft Focus (90mm), all designed to bring your photos to life.

Xiaomi 14T Pro: Keeping it classy with Leica

It is as clear as the photographs you’ll take – the Xiaomi 14T Pro embodies the Leica spirit through its top-tier photography features and Summilux-inspired quality. The Xiaomi and Leica partnership has always been undisputed, but this iteration pushes the boundaries further with its improved low-light capabilities and advanced image sensor.

The Xiaomi 14T Pro will appeal to photography enthusiasts of all kinds. If you fit the bill, the Xiaomi 14T Pro (12GB+256GB) is now available in Malaysia for only RM2,599. It is available at Xiaomi official stores, as well as on Xiaomi’s official online stores on Shopee, Lazada, and mi.com.
