WhatsApp Finally Comes to iPad After 15 Years of Waiting

WhatsApp is now officially available for download on iPad via the Apple App Store. The app brings the core functionality of the mobile version to Apple’s tablet lineup, allowing users to make audio and video calls with up to 32 participants. It also includes the ability to share screens and switch between front and back cameras during calls.

The iPad version supports multitasking features specific to iPadOS, such as Stage Manager, Split View, and Slide Over. This allows users to send and read messages while using other apps, including browsing the web or working on documents. WhatsApp for iPad also integrates with hardware accessories like the Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil for a more flexible messaging experience.

In terms of connectivity, the iPad app stays synced with WhatsApp accounts on iPhone, Mac, and other linked devices. Personal messages, calls, and media are protected using end-to-end encryption, consistent with the platform’s existing privacy standards.
