WhatsApp finally brings dual accounts to iPhone, plus other new features

WhatsApp is rolling out a series of updates aimed at making the app more practical and easier to manage, especially for users juggling multiple chats, devices and accounts. The most notable of these new features is perhaps going to be the ability to finally have two WhatsApp accounts logged in at the same time on iPhones, just like Android.

With this update, users can now log in to two WhatsApp accounts on a single iOS device. This means you no longer need to carry a second phone or rely on workarounds just to separate personal and work chats. Switching between accounts is straightforward, and WhatsApp makes it clear which account you’re using by showing your profile picture in the interface. For many iPhone users, this has been a long time coming. Android users have had this feature for a while, so its arrival on iOS helps bring feature parity across both platforms.

Beyond dual accounts, WhatsApp is also introducing several smaller but practical improvements. Storage management is getting an upgrade, allowing users to delete large files within individual chats instead of wiping entire conversations. There’s also an option to remove only media files while keeping message history intact.

The app is also making it easier to switch devices. WhatsApp now supports cross-platform chat transfers, enabling users to move their chat history between iPhone and Android more seamlessly, including messages, photos and videos.

On the lighter side, stickers are getting smarter, with suggestions appearing as you type emojis, making it quicker to find the right expression. Meanwhile, Meta AI is being integrated into chats for quick photo edits before sending, such as removing unwanted elements or changing backgrounds.

WhatsApp says that these new features are being rolled out as we speak, and should be available to all users soon so if you don’t have it yet just check again for available updates in a bit.
