1. AirAsia introduces F.A.C.E.S. on the AirAsia Super App.
FACES is a facial recognition system owned and operated by AirAsia. FACES which was initially introduced to create a fast, contactless and seamless travel experience for guests is now being introduced in the AirAsia super app.
Airasia Super App CEO Amanda Woo said the launch of FACES on the airasia Super App is an integrated revolution for industry-leading payment solutions.
“This system will make all the offers available on the airAsia Super App, including flights, hotels, food reservations, delivery, and e-calls, among others, smoother and easier with just a facial scan.
“It also facilitates travel at the airport with fast face recognition for the check-in process, as well as streamlines delivery services through real-time verification and contactless delivery,” she said at the launch.
2. MediaTek announces Dimensity 9000, the World’s first TSMC 4nm-class chip
The Dimensity 9000 uses new Armv9 architecture CPUs to deliver unparalleled performance. Its octa-core CPU includes an Arm Cortex-X2 that bursts to epic 3.05GHz, while new LPDDR5X memory makes data immediately available, eliminating the wait to give immediate responsiveness in any app, whatever you’re doing.
We’ve built the Dimensity 9000 with the latest Arm Mali-G710 graphics processor and also introduced a new raytracing SDK that will enable developers to bring exciting new graphics techniques and visual enhancements to their Android titles.
3. Qualcomm to supply BMW with Snapdragon Ride™ Platform
Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. today announced a collaboration to bring the latest advancements in driver assistance technologies, and products of its Snapdragon Ride™ Platform, to BMW Group’s next generation of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and automated driving (AD) platforms.
Leveraging both companies’ expertise in core innovation, BMW Group and Qualcomm Technologies will extend their long-standing relationship to deliver safe, smart and sophisticated driving experiences to BMW Group vehicles.
4. HUAWEI looks to license smartphone designs
According to reports from Bloomberg, Huawei is looking to license some of its smartphone designs to third-party companies in order to get around sanctions imposed by the US.
By licensing its designs to third-party companies, Huawei will be able to gain access to components like TSMC chipsets, and 5G modems. This approach could also help to bring back Google Mobile Services to its devices. Through this method, HUAWEI is most likely to sell devices via the third-party company’s branding.
