vivo Officially Joins Foldable Race with X Fold5; Priced at RM6,999
vivo Malaysia has today welcomed its new contender into the book-style foldable segment with the launch of the X Fold5. This marks the first time vivo has extended its foldable line in Malaysia, adding to the already competitive market. We’ve already had our brief hands-on with the phone behind closed doors, now the phone is publicly unveiled.
The X Fold5 follows the same theme as its rivals, offering users a thin and lightweight experience. For the numbers, the X Fold5 measures an impressive 4.3mm when unfolded and 9.2mm when folded. Moreover, the claimed 217g weight makes the vivo as light as the recently launched HONOR Magic V5.
Something new that vivo is bringing to the table is a Shortcut Button located on the side ridge, offering instant access to customizable settings. So far, the button can be used to toggle through sound and vibration modes, flashlight, camera, recorder, notes, and more.
On the software side, the X Fold5 includes a slew of AI features such as real-time transcription, summarization, and translation, along with a host of Google-powered AI tools. There’s also the Origin Workbench feature, which allows up to five apps to be opened simultaneously for easy viewing and reference.
Moving on to hardware, the vivo X Fold5 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The cover display is a 6.53″ AMOLED screen with a 2748×1172 resolution, which opens up to reveal a larger 8.03″ AMOLED display with a 2480×2200 resolution. Both displays support a 120Hz refresh rate.
Keeping the phone running is a 6,000mAh battery that supports 80W wired charging and 40W wireless charging.
You’ll also get the benefit of ZEISS imaging, though only for the 50MP telephoto camera, which offers 3x optical zoom and is supported by OIS. The main shooter, meanwhile, is a 50MP IMX921 camera, also with OIS, flanked by a 50MP ultra-wide camera.
The vivo X Fold5 boasts impressive water resistance thanks to its IPX8 and IPX9 ratings, with added protection from an IP5X dust resistance rating.
The vivo X Fold5 is available in two colours: Titanium Gray and Feather White.

The vivo X Fold5 is available in a single 16GB/512GB configuration in Malaysia and is priced at RM6,999. Pre-orders for the phone start on 29 July and run until 1 August. Orders placed within this period will come with free gifts worth up to RM3,196, including a magnetic gift set and TWS 3e, 1+1 years of vivo Care+ extended warranty, 1 year of vivo Care+ foldable screen protection, as well as a 30% PWP discount for the vivo Watch GT.
