Four Exciting Upgrades You Can Expect on the iPhone 17 Pro Models

We are approximately a month away from the iPhone 17 series launch, and rumours are rife as to what we can expect. It’s proving to be a difficult challenge for Apple to keep a lid on its latest flagships. It wasn’t too long ago that the design and colours of the entire iPhone 17 line-up were leaked for all the world to see.
The iPhone 17 Pro models, notably, will be graced with an orange colour, which will be Apple’s first ever in its longstanding iPhone catalogue. Rest assured, there will be more to the phones than just a fresh coat of paint. Here are some upgrades you can expect on the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max.
Boosted performance with A19 Pro chip
This is a direct upgrade that’s to be expected. As with each iteration, Apple will introduce a faster chipset that promises greater battery efficiency. Given that the iPhone 16 Pro models run on the A18 Pro chipset, the 17 Pro models are set to receive the A19 Pro chip, while the base iPhone 17 – and potentially the 17 Air – will sport the A19.
Thicker body, but larger battery

The iPhone 17 Pro models could be thicker than their predecessors, but for good reason. Apple never discloses the exact battery capacity of its iPhones, but if this proves true, the 17 Pro Max could potentially beat the 33-hour video playback time of the 16 Pro Max.
With this in mind, the new iPhone 17 Air model – expected to feature a super-slim 5.5mm thickness but only a 2,800mAh capacity—may serve as a justified alternative for users prioritising design over battery life.
Triple 48MP camera setup

One of the bigger upgrades on the iPhone 17 Pro models could come in the form of a triple 48MP camera system. Currently, the iPhone 16 Pro models have two 48MP cameras for the main and ultra-wide lenses, while the telephoto lens is limited to just 12MP.
That looks set to change in September, as Apple is expected to unveil all three lenses with a 48MP setup this time around.
Anti-reflective screen

Things are also set to change in the display department. While many of the specs related to resolution and refresh rates will likely remain the same, whispers of an anti-reflective screen are growing louder. This would be something entirely new for the iPhone and could be one way for the Pro models to differentiate themselves from the base model.
It also sounds like Apple is pulling a page from Samsung’s playbook. The Galaxy S24 Ultra and S25 Ultra’s anti-reflective displays became fan favourites, especially when compared to those of other flagships. It was perhaps one of the more impressive yet underrated features—so it will be interesting to see how Apple’s own version fares.
