UMW Toyota Motor starts 2026 with 4,700 vehicles sold in January

UMW Toyota Motor has kicked off 2026 with a steady performance, delivering 4,700 vehicles in January amid a competitive Malaysian automotive market. It follows a strong 2025, which saw them deliver 102,417 vehicles throughout last year.
The company said the results reflect sustained demand across Toyota’s core segments, supported by its broad product line-up and nationwide after sales network. Rather than chasing short-term sales spikes, UMWT continues to position itself around long-term ownership value and reliability under its “Best in Town” approach.
“Chinese New Year is a time of renewal and togetherness, and for many Malaysians it also involves travelling to be with family.
During the festive period, peace of mind on the road matters even more. It comes from vehicles that are engineered to perform consistently over long journeys and supported by dependable care, so families can travel with confidence and focus on the moments that truly matter,” – Datuk Ravindran K., UMW Toyota Motor President
UMWT adds that they’ve continued to expand its mobility offerings under Toyota’s multipathway strategy, which aims to provide multiple technology options to suit different customer needs. Recent additions include the GR Corolla with automatic transmission, making the performance hatchback more accessible, as well as the Vios Hybrid Electric, which introduces hybrid technology to one of Toyota’s most widely owned models in Malaysia.

To support growing hybrid adoption, UMWT has invested in a local hybrid battery assembly facility at its Bukit Raja plant. The facility can assemble up to 30,000 hybrid battery units per year, strengthening local supply capabilities and supporting the wider rollout of electrified vehicles.
Ownership support has also been expanded with the Toyota Extend programme, introduced in December 2025. The programme offers extended warranty coverage beyond the standard period for selected models, available through authorised Toyota Service Centres nationwide.
In conjunction with the Chinese New Year period, UMWT is offering festive promotions across selected models, with benefits of up to RM9,500 and monthly instalments starting from RM658. Maintenance costs are also addressed through the Toyota Service Savers programme, which offers service packages from RM33 per month.
