Tune Talk integrates MyDigital ID to strengthen SIM security and digital trust in Malaysia

Tune Talk has started integrating MyDigital ID into its mobile application as part of a national effort to strengthen digital trust and reduce fraud linked to unverified SIM cards. The move supports initiatives to curb scam calls, identity impersonation and misuse of mobile numbers as Malaysia’s digital economy continues to grow.

By linking mobile numbers to verified digital identities, Tune Talk aims to improve SIM security while maintaining a smooth user experience. Through the integration, customers can verify their identity more securely when registering new SIM cards, validating existing prepaid numbers and accessing services within the Tune Talk app. The process reduces reliance on manual checks and fragmented verification methods, helping to streamline onboarding and account management.

The implementation is carried out in coordination with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and supported by the National Cyber Security Agency (NACSA). This aligns Tune Talk with broader national efforts to build a safer and more resilient digital environment. While rollout timelines and features may vary among telcos, the shared goal is to reduce risks associated with unverified SIM usage.

MyDigital ID verifies users against official government records under the supervision of the National Registration Department (NRD). Tune Talk states that the platform does not store personal data, track online activity or collect additional information, and that verification is conducted with user consent.

Tune Talk says the integration reflects its ongoing commitment to responsible innovation and national cybersecurity priorities. Customers can expect updates on MyDigital ID features and rollout details through Tune Talk’s official communication channels as the integration progresses.
