UMW Toyota Showcases Hydrogen-Powered Toyota Mirai at Nikkei Forum Johor 2025

UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable mobility at the inaugural Nikkei Forum Medini Johor 2025, held from June 18 to June 19 in Medini, Johor. As the Premier Mobility Partner of the event, UMWT showcased the Toyota Mirai, its hydrogen-powered fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV), aligning with the forum’s focus on innovation, cross-border collaboration, and sustainable growth across Asia.

The forum brought together more than 500 political, business, and policy leaders from across the region. Key dignitaries included Malaysia’s Prime Minister, YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim; the Menteri Besar of Johor, YAB Dato’ Onn Hafiz Ghazi; and Japan’s Ambassador to Malaysia, H.E. Shikata Noriyuki.
Toyota’s presence was centred around the Mirai, which reflects the brand’s zero-emission direction and underlines the role hydrogen can play in decarbonising cross-border transportation networks. The showcase highlighted how hydrogen vehicles like the Mirai can support clean logistics in urban centres and upcoming initiatives like the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ).

UMWT’s participation is viewed as timely as Malaysia and Singapore move forward with deepening bilateral cooperation under the JS-SEZ framework.
Speaking at the event, Datuk Ravindran K., President of UMW Toyota Motor, said, “Toyota’s participation goes beyond visibility—it is about shaping mobility’s future at the intersection of policy, innovation, and sustainability. As the JS-SEZ takes shape, we see significant opportunities for Toyota to contribute meaningfully from fleet decarbonisation strategies to hydrogen infrastructure pilots that serve regional growth.”
