Touring the Digital IKEA Museum
IKEA has just launched a digital museum where you can explore digital exhibitions, browse catalogues and experience stories through the ages.
The digital museum will surely give you new perspectives on IKEA and life at home. The two key sections of the museum are:
- The Story of IKEA: Follow the timeline to discover stories on innovation and insights, big mistakes and great ideas.
- The IKEA Catalogue Through the Ages: Browse through seven decades of home furnishing inspiration and nostalgia in IKEA catalogues catching the spirit of the times.
The Story of IKEA
As you follow through the IKEA timeline in an interactive fashion filled with pictures and videos, you’ll not only get a glimpse into IKEA’s roots but also gain a better understanding of IKEA’s modus operandi.
The two videos that intrigued us the most was ‘Why is it called that’ and ‘Design by IKEA of Sweden’. Both of which gave us a better understanding of IKEA’s modus operandi.
The IKEA Catalogue Through the Ages
If history isn’t your thing, don’t worry! Head over to the catalogues section where you’ll be able to browse and view catalogues from the 1950’s to date.
Unfortunately all catalogues are in Swedish. Nevertheless, if you are looking to be inspired, there are still plenty of pictures you can refer to. As they say, pictures are worth a thousand words.
