Going through Ramadan can be a challenging task for some people, especially those who are new to fasting; while other might see it as a breeze. Regardless of its difficulty level, there are always ways you can improve yourself and make Ramadan a more meaningful and personal experience.

1. Muslim Pro

Muslim Pro is perhaps the most popular app for Muslims around the world. It’s also one of the more comprehensive and well-rounded app you will find. To date, it has amassed over 100 million downloads on Google Play Store!

Muslim Pro sends you reminders when its near prayer time, and will even give you the accurate time to pray based on your location. Not only that, it will tell where the nearest mosque is if you happen to be in an unfamiliar area.

You can read the Quran on the app, and even create a playlist of your favourite Suras so you can listen to them whenever you like. The Quran and Dua can be translated in many languages, including Bahasa Malaysia, English, and Bahasa Indonesia.

Some of the other features that make Muslim Pro stand out is the Zakat Calculator and Qibla Compass. You can even watch a livestream of Makkah and prep for your Hajj journey with some travel guides.

2. Pillars: Prayer Times & Qibla

Another app which you can download to track your prayers this Ramadan is Pillars: Prayer Times & Qibla. This app is somewhat similar to Muslim Pro, but with a simpler interface and less functions. Because it is less complex and easier to navigate, it is better suited for senior citizens who might not be as tech savvy.

Just like Muslim Pro, Pillars will send you prayer reminders everyday based on the prayer times of your location. There’s also an in-app Qibla compass which you can use.

Some might prefer the pleasing and straightforward interface of this app. At the end of the day, it comes down to personal preference.

3. My Ramadan App

My Ramadan App was created by developers from our neighbours in Singapore, but its functions are applicable to Malaysians too.

What’s useful about this app is that they have a fasting chart for you to reflect and track how well you did. They will also give you a Niyyah and Du’a to anchor your commitment to Ramadan. Aside from tracking your fast, you can also track your Tarawih prayers and your 5 Daily Prayers.

What’s good about this app is that it can cater to your dietary preferences. You can select between Vegan, Vegetarian, and Non-Vegetarian recipes. There’s also an option where you can turn off all recipes which contains pork.

Kuali is another app which presents recipes from a wide variety of local flavours. Select from appetisers, main course, and desserts. Again, everything is detailed to the tee, from ingredients to cooking instructions.
