Top 6 Robot Vacuums That Will Make Household Chores Easier This Fasting Month

By Timothy Teoh March 24, 2023

Fasting from meals is a challenge in itself, what more when you have housework to attend to? On one hand, neglecting household duties will result in filthy dust build ups. On the other, exerting yourself too much will wear your energy down and make for a torturous rest of the day.

So then, what should you resort to? The short answer: robot vacuums.

There are tons of robot vacuums out there that will dutifully keep your house clean while you rest easy. If you’re not sure which to choose, we’ve narrowed down the top 6 choices.

From budget to mid-range, and even one suitable for your fluffy oyen, here are the top 6 vacuums that will make household chores easier this Ramadan.

1. Samsung POWERbot Essential w/ 2-in-1 Vacuum Cleaning & Mopping, RM1,399

Though there are plenty of budget options out there, we don’t recommend holding back too much on long-term cleaning appliances.

A price range of just over RM1,000 will land you something decent like the Samsung POWERbot Essential. This is a 2-in-1 cleaning and mopping robot vacuum that will do the basics well. It’s slim at 85mm, allowing it to slide under low-rise furniture.

You’ll be able to control certain functions of the vacuum remotely via an app. Some of these functions include start or stop, vacuuming schedule, and even suction power.

2. Realme TechLife Robot Vacuum, RM1,999

Another 2-in-1 vacuum-mop option is the realme TechLife robot vacuum. It’s slightly higher on the price scale, but still affordable in most households.

You’re paying more essentially for a few key features, one of which being the LiDAR Smart Mapping. This allows the vacuum to keep a digital blueprint of your home to carve out an optimum cleaning path. Not only that, once the vacuum has familiarized itself to your home, you’ll be able to create customized cleaning based on rooms.

Another neat feature on the TechLife robot vacuum is the Intelligent Surface Adaptation which adjust suction power and speed depending on the surface. So it’s easy on the hard floors, but ups the suction power when it runs over hard-to-clean surfaces like carpets.

3. Ecovacs DEEBOT X1 OMNI

Self-cleaning robot vacuums gets a pricier tag, for a whole lot of convenience. They typically have a dock for the vacuum to empty its bag in automatically.

For the Ecovacs DEEBOT X1 OMNI, it will even separate clean water from sewage and wash the mop cloths on the vacuum. And all you have to do is…nothing. Everything is automated, so you can take a nap and let the DEEBOT X1 OMNI take control.

AIVI 3D will detect what’s in front to avoid humans and obstacles, while TrueMapping 2.0 will imprint a map of your home so it can navigate and clean efficiently.

And whenever you want it to stop, you can just yell “STOPPPPPPPP” as it comes with built-in voice control for added convenience.

4. Xiaomi Robot Vacuum X10+, RM3,299

The Xiaomi Robot Vacuum X10+ has its own obstacle recognition feature, known as the S-Cross AI Advanced 3D.

It is also a self-cleaning robot vacuum, so it’ll return to its smart cleaning station to empty itself, as well as to wash its mopping pads. Like most other robot vacuums, the Xiaomi Robot Vacuum X10+ has house mapping capabilities to plan its cleaning route smartly.

Ultrasonic carpet recognition will inject more suction power to fully get the grime off your carpets. It will also lift the mop pads to avoid getting your carpets wet.

It has an anti-fall sensor to avoid itself from tumbling down the stairs.

5. Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra, RM5,699

We’ve reached the big boys of the robot vacuum world. But as with nice things, it also requires nice money. So if you’ve got cash to splash, then consider the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra.

This state-of-the-art robot vacuum has an Empty Wash Fill Dock that self-washes, self-refills, and self-empties, leaving any self-doubt about the cleanliness of your home.

ReactiveAI2.0 will recognize obstacles and avoid it. While Enhanced Hazard Recognition will ensure the vacuum won’t risk going near potentially dangerous objects, such as power strips, wires, and pet waste.

You can recreate your home via an app for automatic cleaning. Once you’ve got the layout planned, you can simply tap a room and command the vacuum to clean that specific area. Like a Sim character, but exclusively for cleaning.

The robot vacuum is also equipped with remote viewing features so you can see what the vacuum sees even away from home. But the best part is, it has an onboard mic so you can confuse your unsuspecting pets at home.

6. Samsung Jet Bot AI+ with Intel A.I. Driving, RM5,599

Our final recommendation for robot vacuums goes to the Samsung Jet Bot AI+.

One of the key reasons it’s on the list is because of its 5-layered filtration system. The first layer is a mesh grill for large dust. As the second layer, it utilizes a combination of Jet Cyclone, Sponge Filter and micro filter. After which is a fine dust filter to pick up micro dust.

Other than that, it also has Jet AI Object Recognition to avoid nasty bumps, as well as LiDAR sensors for optimized mapping.

A few quick taps on the SmartThings App allows for remote control. You can set the vacuum’s cleaning schedule, select which rooms to clean; as well as determine restricted areas, for example, the nursery room to avoid waking a sleeping infant.

On top of that, you also get Jet Live feature which allows you to check on your home.

Keep it clean this fasting month

Let the convenience of robot vacuums take care of the dust and the filth, while you keep focus on the things that really matter this fasting month. We hope these recommendations will be helpful to you this Ramadan!

Nothing Ear (2) receives global launch; priced at RM599 at CROSSOVER outlets starting today

By Timothy Teoh March 23, 2023

Nothing Technology has released its first-ever second-generation product with the global launch of the Nothing Ear (2). This is Nothing’s third earbud release, after the Nothing Ear (1) in 2021, and the Nothing Ear (stick) in late 2022.

The Nothing Ear (2) is priced at RM599, and is exclusively available for purchase at CROSSOVER outlets starting March 23rd. You can find CROSSOVER at Sunway Pyramid, Mid Valley, and Southkey; or on their official website.

Pre-orders and free tryouts for the Nothing Ear (2) can be made at:

    1. YES Experience Store Lot 10
    2. DirectD Gadget Mega Store Petaling Jaya
    3. TMT Mid Valley Megamall
    4. Vivid Concepts, Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall
    5. TacMobile, Aeon Mall Bukit Tinggi

The Nothing Ear (2) will be on general sale from 8th April onwards at Nothing partner stores. You can also find them at Nothing Official Stores on Shopee and Lazada.

Everything new with Nothing Ear (2)

Nothing has heeded feedback about the bulkiness of the charging case in the Nothing Ear (1). As such, they’ve made the charging case for the Nothing Ear (2) more compact and slimmer. Dimensions aside, there isn’t much change in appearance. The charging case still keeps to its transparent theme with the same squarish shape with rounded edges.

The same can be said about the earbuds themselves. It retains the semi-transparent look iconic to the Nothing brand with the same in-ear bud type. Put the Ear (1) and Ear (2) side by side and you’ll find the Ear (2) is a shade longer. But aesthetically, things are pretty much unchanged.

Nothing claims to make significant strides in sound quality in the Ear (2). Its now packed with 11.6mm custom drivers that offer deeper bass. Not only that, it now has Low Latency High-Definition Audio Codec (LHDC) 5.0 which supports Hi-Res audio.

The Nothing Ear (2) boasts up to 40dB of active noise cancellation. But the magic lies beyond the amount of cancelled decibels. Nothing has also incorporated Personalized Noise Cancellation to tailor the audio based on the shape of your ears, enhancing your listening experience in the process. Not only that, you can also opt for Adaptive Mode which automatically adjust the level of noise cancellation based on your surroundings.

A neat new feature on the Nothing Ear (2) is the Dual Connection. Now, you’re able to connect the Ear (2) to two devices at one time and transition between them seamlessly. Say you’re listening to music on your laptop, and receive a phone call. The Ear (2) is intelligent enough to pick up which device the audio is coming from, and play it through the ear buds.

You’ll get up to 36 hours of playback with the casing on the Nothing Ear (2), a slight improvement from the 34 hours on the Ear (1). According to Nothing, you’ll have 8 hours in just 10 minutes of charge.

The Nothing Ear (2) only comes in white for now.
