TNG eWallet Now Lets You Scan Non-Payment Codes Like Menus, Check-Ins & More

Touch ‘n Go has upgraded its built-in QR code scanner to be more than just a payment tool. The scanner on the TNG eWallet app has expanded its capabilities, now allowing it to scan non-payment QR codes for added convenience.
Previously, the app’s scanner functioned solely as a tool for QR-based payments. While you can still use TNG eWallet’s scanner to make payments, it now also allows you to scan menus, public transport boarding codes, arrival cards, event check-in QR codes, and more. This streamlined functionality eliminates the need to download and switch between different QR code apps.

You can access the scanner as you normally would to make a payment using TNG eWallet. Simply open the app, tap the blue scan icon at the bottom center of the screen, then point the scanner at any available QR code. From there, you can choose whether to pay, open a link, or save details of the QR code.

While exploring the TNG eWallet app, I noticed that the upgraded scanner has already been rolled out, with TNG notifying users via a “We’ve upgraded. Scan and QR now!” message upon tapping the scanner icon.
