TM Roh shares insights for Southeast Asia following Galaxy S26 series launch

After the Galaxy Unpacked event in San Francisco, Samsung’s CEO, President and Head of the Device eXperience Division TM Roh shared some insights with the media following the introduction of the new Samsung Galaxy S26 lineup and Galaxy Buds4 series.

TM Roh noted that nine out of ten young people in Southeast Asia use AI daily on their mobile devices, showcasing Southeast Asia’s strong demand for the feature. He described Southeast Asia and Oceania as one of the most dynamic markets in the world and the fastest adopters of AI innovation, emphasizing that the region’s openness and enthusiasm toward emerging technologies position it as a key driver for future AI development.

Acknowledging the diversity of languages, cultures and environments across SEAO, TM Roh underscored the importance of localization. Samsung is optimizing Galaxy AI for local languages, contexts and everyday scenarios through its regional R&D centers in Indonesia, Vietnam and the Philippines. These efforts aim to ensure that AI-powered experiences feel relevant and intuitive for users across different markets.

According to Roh, consumers in Southeast Asia and Oceania have particularly high expectations for premium mobile experiences. He shared that the Galaxy S26 Series has been built to deliver their most powerful mobile performance to date, with the new smartphones representing a step forward in Samsung’s agentic AI approach.

Roh also revealed that two out of every three Galaxy S25 series device sold in Southeast Asia and Oceania were the Galaxy S25 Ultra, with overall sales surpassing the numbers done by the previous Galaxy S24 lineup. He went on to thank customers in the region for their strong support, and highlighted the demand for premium mobile experiences here.
