The All-New Harry Potter Game: Hogwarts Legacy
Undergo the life of a wizard or witch in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in the all-new single-player RPG game – Hogwarts Legacy. In this Harry Potter game, you’ll have the opportunity to live as a Hogwarts student, where you’ll attend transfiguration and potions classes. You can even venture out into Hogsmeade and visit the Three Broomsticks Inn!
Sony officially announced Hogwarts Legacy in September 2020 at its reveal event. Even though more than a year has passed, there are still not many details on this highly anticipated RPG game.
But here’s what we know so far:
- The release date
Hogwarts Legacy was initially set to release in 2021. However, it was delayed, and a Hogwarts Legacy live stream by the PlayStation State of Play announced that the Harry Potter game is set to release in November or December this year.
An official announcement from PlayStation gives Harry Potter fans more certainty on when they can expect to join the Wizarding World.
- The available platforms
Hogwarts Legacy will be available on PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC. Moreover, the Harry Potter game is also available for pre-orders.
The Hogwarts Legacy website has also confirmed a Nintendo Switch version of the Harry Potter game. However, it’s still unsure whether it’s only available via online streaming or has a full native port.
- The Hogwarts Legacy trailer and gameplay
PlayStation only released one Hogwarts Legacy trailer. However, it’s shown incredible scenes of the legendary castle and the fantastic beasts you’ll meet.
On the other hand, PlayStation recently released 14 minutes of gameplay in March, and it gave us a glimpse into the Harry Potter game. It showed that there’d be companion characters, character customisation, and wizarding duels.
In Hogwarts Legacy, you will join the Wizarding World as an original character that you can customise. Your character, however, only receives their Hogwarts letter at the age of 15, so you’ll be joining Hogwarts as a 5th-year student.
Furthermore, you possess the ability to use Ancient Magic and Professor Fig will be there to guide you. You’ll learn how to brew potions, cast charm spells, and care for fantastic beasts like a hippogriff.
Your classes like Defence Against the Dark Arts will also include interactive minigames. Furthermore, you can even fly around the Hogwarts grounds on a broom!
This Harry Potter game also offers a combat system where you’re equipped with spells to help you duel. Furthermore, you can put your herbology knowledge to use by immobilising your enemies with magical plants or sneaking past them with an invisibility cloak.
Like the real Hogwarts, the goal in Hogwarts Legacy is to develop your magical skills as a witch or wizard. This Harry Potter game will have a talent system that tracks your abilities and allows you to unlock new ones.
Unlike the Harry Potter books and movies, you’ll be using the Room of Requirement as a base where you practice casting spells, brewing potions, and growing magical plants. However, you still have access to your House’s common room, where you can enjoy your House’s distinct architecture and design.
You can also explore the Hogwarts grounds, including the Forbidden Forest and Hogsmead. Every location has a hidden quest and secret for you to discover.
- The Hogwarts Legacy setting
The events of this Harry Potter game occur in the late 1800s, where players can explore the surrounding wizarding areas and unearth more adventures and quests.
A slight disappointment to Harry Potter fans is that Harry Potter and other renowned characters like Ron, Hermione, and Ginny won’t be included since the game is set before their time. However, you might bump into Peeves and Nearly Headless Nick, and who knows, maybe you’ll be a fellow Hogwarts student with young Dumbledore.
We all can’t wait for the new Harry Potter game – Hogwarts Legacy! But since it won’t be released for another few months, maybe you can try out other games. Visit PriceShop for laptop and PC games recommendations and the latest tech news!
