Tamagotchi-Style Pokémon Toy Brings You One Step Closer to Becoming a Pokémon Trainer

If you’ve ever fantasized about becoming a real-life Pokémon trainer, this new Tamagotchi-style virtual pet console might be the closest thing to making your dreams come true.
Developed by Japanese toymaker Takara Tomy, the Pokémon Poke-nade Monster Ball is inspired by the iconic red-and-white Poké Ball so beloved by fans of the long-running series. This is, metaphorically—and now digitally—where your Pokémon will reside, and you can keep tabs on their condition via a color screen.

It seems heavily influenced by retro Tamagotchi toys, or, if you’re from my era, the Digivice—the Digimon digital toy from the early 2000s. Expect a similar experience in terms of its portability and concept, though a broader range of interactions and greater playability are now possible with technology far beyond 2-bit, non-colored screens.

As for the Pokémon Poke-nade Monster Ball, owners can control their Pokémon via gesture-based interactions and buttons. You can even “pet” your Pokémon by gently tapping the top of the Poké Ball or send them into battle with other Pokémon.
So far, the Poke-nade Monster Ball includes 157 Pokémon spanning several generations. Unsurprisingly, it features the widely adored Pikachu and Eevee, along with Sprigatito, Fuecoco, Quaxly, Lucario, and Sylveon.
It’s also worth mentioning that the toy will support Japanese and English, which would effectively accommodate the ever-growing Pokemon fanbase.

According to Takara Tomy’s official Japan website, the Pokémon Poke-nade Monster Ball is set to launch in Japan on October 11, 2025. It will retail for ¥7,480, approximately RM214.21 in Malaysia—though there’s no word yet on whether it will make its way to shelves in Malaysia.
Your best bet may be to keep an eye on Takara Tomy’s official Shopee and Lazada platforms to see if the listing pops up after the launch date.
