Starlink Mini Launches in Malaysia: Affordable, Portable Satellite Internet Now Available at TMT
The Starlink Mini has officially landed in Malaysia, and one of the ways you can acquire it is through Thunder Match Technology (TMT). TMT is Malaysia’s largest technology retail chain and an authorized partner of Starlink, meaning you can purchase not just the Starlink Mini, but also the Standard Kit V4 and the Flat High-Performance Kit here as well.
Returning to the Starlink Mini, this portable satellite internet device is designed to deliver high-speed, low-latency internet in a compact form factor. Unlike the Standard Kit V4 dish that needs to be mounted in a fixed position and connected to a router, the Mini is compact enough to be carried around in a bag, making it a viable solution for on-the-go users such as remote workers, travelers, or outdoor enthusiasts.
A Starlink plug and a 15m DC power cable come in the box, offering a continuous power supply if you’re conveniently near an outlet. However, the Mini can also run on power banks. TMT representatives have confirmed that it will provide over 50 hours of runtime with a 10,000mAh power bank.
Moreover, Starlink claims the Mini delivers approximately 150Mbps of internet speed. During in-store testing, speeds exceeded 280Mbps, which is a promising sign.
For those interested, customers can view, test, and experience the Starlink Mini firsthand at TMT’s Starlink Experience Stores in PJ Damansara Uptown. The Starlink Mini kit itself costs RM930 in Malaysia, considerably cheaper than the Standard Kit V4, which retails at RM1,600. Either way, both kits are available at TMT stores in Malaysia.
Do keep in mind that you will need to subscribe to a Starlink internet plan in order to have internet. Starlink’s internet plans start at RM129/month for the Residential Lite plan and go up to RM220/month for the Standard plan.
