Spotify reduces Premium Family Plan accounts to four; Existing users not affected

By Timothy Teoh November 27, 2024

In case you missed it, Spotify has reduced the number of shared accounts in their Premium Family subscription from six to four. There is no change in pricing, with the Family Plan maintained at RM24.90 per month.

It is unclear when the revision took place, but the official Spotify Malaysia website is already reflecting the change. Based on what we see, there are currently no plans with a default six-user capacity.

That being said, the Family Plan can support up to two additional accounts, bringing the total to six. However, these new accounts will come at a cost of RM7.90 each per month.

So, if you were to opt for the Family Plan with its four default users and activate the two extra slots, your total bill cost you RM40.70/month (RM24.90 + RM7.90 + RM7.90).

According to the Spotify FAQ page, the new pricing will only affect new users. Those who have signed up for the Premium Family plan before 12 November 2024 can enjoy the existing six-user Premium plan at the current rate.

All TNG eWallet users must complete eKYC verification or risk losing access

By Timothy Teoh November 20, 2024

TNG Digital, the operator of TNG eWallet, has announced that eKYC verification for the eWallet will be mandatory starting 20th December 2024 onwards. Users who fail to complete the process will face increasing limitations and eventually lose access to their eWallet accounts.

For those out of the loop, Electronic Know-Your-Customer (eKYC) is a verification process requiring users to submit a photo of their MyKad and a selfie to the platform, with no need for in-person visits.

Up to this point, eKYC verification has been optional. However, unverified users are restricted to basic features, such as payment transactions, NFC card reloads, and low monthly transaction limits.

According to TNG eWallet’s FAQ page, eKYC verification enhances account security by protecting users from unauthorised transactions. Additionally, users who are verified will unlock several features on the TNG eWallet app, including increased monthly limits and the ability to transfer funds.
