Sony were teasing a new product last week, and we now know what it is: the new Sony LinkBuds Clip. Unlike conventional earbuds, these new open clip-type earbuds are designed to let users listen to their music while able to hear their surroundings at the same time.

The Japanese giant adds that the open design helps reduce ear fatigue by improving airflow and eliminating ear canal pressure, making the earbuds comfortable for all-day wear. The LinkBuds Clip are also designed to fit a wide range of ear shapes, with optional fitting cushions included for better stability during daily use or workouts.

LinkBuds Clip can be personalized with optional case covers and Fitting Cushions, available in coral, green, blue, lavender, and black .

The earbuds feature three listening modes that can be switched using tap controls. Standard Mode delivers balanced sound with clear vocals, while Voice Boost Mode enhances speech in noisy environments such as train stations or crowded areas. In quieter spaces, Sound Leakage Reduction Mode helps minimise audio escaping to avoid disturbing others.

Despite their open-ear design, Sony says sound quality remains a priority. As such, the LinkBuds Clip support DSEE audio upscaling, 360 Reality Audio, Background Music Effect and a customisable 10-band EQ via the Sony Sound Connect app, along with a ‘Find Your Own Equalizer’ feature for easier tuning. Meanwhile for calls, the earbuds use bone-conduction sensors paired with AI-based noise reduction to capture voices clearly and reduce background noise, even in busy environments.

As for battery life, Sony claims the LinkBuds Clip is good for up to 9 hours of use, with the charging case adding another 28 hours of use for a total of 37 hours of use. A 3-minute charge meanwhile provides up to 1 hour of playback. Other features include IPX4 water resistance, multipoint Bluetooth connectivity, tap controls and scene-based listening.

The Sony LinkBuds Clip will be available in Black, Green, Lavender and Greige colour options. Priced at RM899, if you get them at the Sony Malaysia website you’ll also be able to snag a free Jisulife Pro 1 worth RM149 while stocks last. However, at time of writing, the optional fitting cushions are not yet available on the Sony Malaysia website.
