Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 Arrives With Incremental Upgrades

Qualcomm has announced its latest mid-range chipset, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 Mobile Platform, set to succeed last year’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 3. This new platform brings modest but notable improvements in graphics, processing power, and on-device AI capabilities.
Compared to its predecessor, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 delivers a 7% performance boost in both CPU and GPU, based on Qualcomm’s internal metrics. It includes support for WFHD+ (1300×2900) displays with up to 144Hz refresh rate and HDR10+, aiming to offer smoother visuals for gaming and video playback.

Thermal efficiency has also been refined through Qualcomm’s Adaptive Performance Engine 3.0, which helps the system manage heat and power more effectively during heavy use. For photography, the chipset includes a Triple ISP setup with AI Remosaic, intended to reduce grain and discolouration in photos.
A notable update is the on-device AI support, including compatibility with a broad range of LLMs (Large Language Models) and LVMs (Large Vision Models), enabling generative AI use directly on smartphones.

In terms of connectivity, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 supports Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.4. It also includes the Snapdragon Sound Technology Suite, which brings features such as spatial audio for more immersive listening experiences.
As of now, Qualcomm hasn’t confirmed which phone will be the first to use this chip, but it’s expected to appear in upcoming mid-range devices.
