Shokz OpenRun Pro2 bone conduction headphones now available for RM899
Just three months after the launch of the OpenFit Air, Shokz is ready to let loose another pair of headphones into the market. The OpenRun Pro2 is Shokz’s latest sport-centric offering tailored towards the fitness market.
These are bone conduction headphones, meaning they transmit audio by sending sound waves through the wearer’s skull. It might sound a little daunting if you’re new to the concept, but they’re generally safe and are often considered a better choice for ear health as they pose less risk to your eardrums.
The OpenRun Pro2 will primarily appeal to runners, cyclists, and triathletes who find it important to maintain spatial awareness during roadwork sessions. On that note, the headphones are IP55-rated for dust and water resistance, so you can expect them to survive rain and light showers.
For this year’s model, Shokz says they’ve integrated DualPitch technology that blends both the audio quality of bone conduction and air conduction speakers, allowing for improved overall sound quality across the mids, highs, and bass.
There’s also MultiPoint Sharing for when you want to connect and switch between two devices seamlessly.
If the spec sheet is accurate, you can expect decent battery life, with Shokz claiming the 150mAh battery on the OpenRun Pro2 will carry you through 12 hours of music playback. Charging takes approximately an hour, but a 5-minute power boost will get you 2.5 hours of playtime.
The Shokz OpenRun Pro2 is already available for purchase in Malaysia with an official retail price of RM899. In fact, Shokz is currently holding a roadshow at the East Atrium of Mid Valley Megamall, where the first 50 customers who purchase the OpenRun Pro2 will be entitled to freebies worth over RM400, including a sports belt, cooling towels, and t-shirts. The roadshow will run from 23rd to 29th September 2024.
