You can now top up your Setel Wallet with cash at Petronas stations
Setel has announced its new Cash Top-Up feature, giving motorists a new way of topping up their Setel Wallet. As its name suggests, this feature will let users add funds via cash at Petronas stations nationwide. Setel says that this will allow more Malaysians who prefer cash enjoy the convenience and rewards of the Setel app without needing online banking or cards.
With the new Cash Top-Up feature, users who use cash can access all of Setel’s features. This includes fuel purchases (with BUDI95), parking, shopping, Mesra Rewards and more. BUDI95 recipients in particular may find the Cash Top-Up feature most beneficial, as you can use the Setel app to enjoy the subsidy without needing to queue or bring out your MyKad when fueling. Do take note though that you will need to first verify your identity on the Setel app.
Seeing as most Malaysians who prefer or rely on cash may not be the most digitally savvy, Setel says that there will be staff to help those topping up their Setel with cash at Petronas stations. Cash Top-Up is already available at over 1,000 Petronas stations nationwide.
By switching over to Setel and using Cash Top-Up, cash users can also negate the trouble of having unused balance when fueling up. Any remaining amount will now automatically go back into your Setel balance, which you can then use for other services, such as parking or DuitNow QR payments.

Abdullah added that the goal for Setel is to build a more inclusive digital ecosystem to connect communities across the country. This will allow all Malaysians, regardless of location or payment preference, to benefit from the convenience, security, and rewards of Setel.
How to top up with cash on Setel
To top your Setel Wallet with cash, simply launch the app and tap on ‘Pay’ or ‘Top up with cash at Petronas’. Then show your code and pay the top up amount at the counter.
Free RM10 for new Setel users
In conjunction with their rollout of the Cash Top-Up feature, Setel is also giving new users RM10 when they try out the app; you’ll simply need to enter the promo code C-SENANG when signing up. This promotion will last from now till 31 January 2026.
