Samsung takes huge strides with Galaxy A33 5G

The Samsung Galaxy A33 5G reaches for the stars despite its mid-range reputation. One can easily purchase the Samsung Galaxy A33 at a price of RM1,279 in Malaysia and find that its specs are well above the average mid-range phone. Samsung released the A33 with the intention of succeeding the A32, but unlike the A32 which had both 4G and 5G variants, the A33 only comes in a single 5G variant.

Aside from network differences, the A33 also received a host of upgrades that quickly overshadows the A32. In fact, many will argue that the enhancements to the A33 puts it on par with the higher-end Galaxy A53.

But comparisons are for another day.

In this article, we’re shifting our gaze to the upgrades Samsung has entrusted into the Galaxy A33 5G.

Major boost in chipset

The Galaxy A33 5G takes a huge strides in giving it a major boost in processor

Samsung has done away with the MediaTek chips in the A32 variants and instead opted for the Exynos 1280 processor for the Galaxy A33. The Exynos 1280’s 5nm Octa-core processor will see the A33 receive 28% faster performance core compared to its predecessor. In addition, the A33 measured 52% faster graphic performance, enhancing your gaming experience by leaps and bounds.

The Galaxy A33 comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. However, you can upgrade the storage to up to 1TB through the shared MicroSD card slot. Extra virtual RAM of up to 8GB is also available if needed.

Superior display qualities

The Samsung Galaxy A33 5G is fitted with a 6.4-inch Infinity-U Display. You’ll also get 2400x1080p FHD+ resolution on the Super AMOLED display, which means you’ll be basking in high definition content with true-to-life colours. The 90Hz refresh rate makes transitioning between tasks seamless and smoothens the overall scrolling experience.

Samsung has decided to remove the headphone jacks. Whether or not this is a deal breaker is a matter of personal preference, but it is still good information to have before you make your purchase. What’s a big plus are the Dolby Atmos speakers, enriching content immersion to levels above other mid-range phones.

The A33 also comes with Adaptive Brightness which adjusts the brightness according to the lighting environment. According to a lab test conducted by GSMArena, the maximum brightness of the A33 reaches to an impressive 728nits.

Improved design and durability

The Galaxy A33 now comes with a sophisticated matte finishing which gives it a hint of luxury. The screen is protected with the sturdy Gorilla Glass 5 which makes it less prone to scratches. The Gorilla Glass 5 is also found on the A32 variants, as well as the A53.

An IP67 water and dust resistance means you don’t have to worry about accidental splashes or heavy sweating. Theoretically, you could even submerge it under 1 meter of water for 30 minutes. But of course, we wouldn’t recommend doing that at all.

The A33 comes in 4 colours: Awesome Blue, Awesome Black, Awesome White, and Awesome Peach. You can purchase the Samsung Galaxy A33 at an affordable price from trusted sellers in Malaysia.

Camera now enhanced by OIS

The Galaxy A33 now comes with OIS for its camera

Samsung has stayed loyal to the quad camera setup for the A33.

The quad camera line-up consists of:

  • 48MP (F/1.8) Camera with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS)
  • 8MP (F/2.2) Ultra Wide Camera
  • 2MP (F/2.4) Depth Camera
  • 5MP (F/2.4) Macro Camera

A significant improvement to the A33 from the A32 is the addition of Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) to the main camera. If you’ve got shaky hands, then this is a much needed upgrade. Say goodbye to blurry, smudgy photos! The OIS also finally paves way for Night Mode. Now with guaranteed stability, you can easily take long-exposure images in low-light environments.

Selfie enthusiast will find the 32MP (F/2.2) quite adequate. It doesn’t reach to the likes of higher-tier phones, but definitely meets the mark considering Portrait Mode is now available on both the rear and front cameras.

Long-lasting battery

The Samsung Galaxy A33 5G was meant for long-lasting usage. And it does so with the 5000mAh battery which Samsung claims can last for two days (under very specific conditions). 25W fast charging is available, but unfortunately the 25W adapter doesn’t come with the box so be prepared to fork out a little extra if you don’t already have a 25W adapter. It does however come with a Type-C cable.

In terms of battery performance, the Samsung Galaxy A33 5G performs decently. In this test by PhoneArena, the Galaxy A33 gives you about 8 hours of video streaming and 15 hours of web browsing.
