Foremostly, Samsung offers four lines of smartphones – Galaxy S, Galaxy Z and Galaxy A. Here’s what you need to know about each series.
Galaxy S
Galaxy S is Samsung’s flagship series. It encompasses different models at different price points with slightly different specs.
The newest generation launched on 9th February is the Samsung Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra. Its predecessors, the Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S20 series, are still available.
As expected of a flagship series, the Galaxy S line has a higher price point, offering better features. The new S22 model, for instance, features a triple rear camera with an upgrade to its Pro-grade Camera, where nightography is brought to a whole new level.

Galaxy Z is Samsung’s newest line to debut – a series of Samsung’s foldable phones. The latest models are the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the Galaxy Z Flip 3.
Folding phones are making a comeback in the market. Hence, lower production volumes but higher price points. But the Galaxy Z series does offer unique functionality and designs.
The Galaxy Z series may not have the highest quality hardware like the flagship line, but it still is one of the top-quality devices amongst the Samsung smartphones.
The Galaxy Z Fold 3, for example, has an outer screen size of 6.2 inches and an inner screen size of 7.6 inches, which makes it the perfect device for viewing and multitasking. Furthermore, it also features the same Snapdragon 888 processor as the Galaxy S series and a dual 120Hz display.
Galaxy A
Samsung’s Galaxy A line can be considered as the junior flagship line. This series features some high-quality tech and build materials you would find from the Galaxy S line at a lower price point.
For instance, the Galaxy A52 5G features the Snapdragon 750G – a processor not as impressive as the Snapdragon 888, but it still has a 120Hz display. In addition, it comes with a 15W phone charger and supports 25W fast charging as well.

If you don’t have a budget, consider the Galaxy S22/21 Ultra series or the Galaxy Z Fold 3, ranging from RM4,999 to RM7,099. However, if you’re a little tight on budget but still require a solid Android smartphone, then the Galaxy A series might be what you need.
Meanwhile, if you’re looking for a device to boost your productivity, the Galaxy S series and the Galaxy Z Fold 3 would be good choices.
The former offers the S Pen, where you can conveniently take notes, prepare for presentations, and share them. Meanwhile, the latter is a device that can stand upright with a 7.6-inch screen size that supports multitasking.
However, if your primary usage is photography, the Galaxy S series is the way to go.
