Samsung mid-rangers Galaxy A54 5G and A34 5G launches with RM1,599 starting price
Samsung has unveiled their first additions to the A series of the year. The two new mid-rangers consist of the Galaxy A54 5G and the Galaxy A34 5G. Each comes with only a single 8GB RAM and 256GB storage variant.
The Galaxy A54 5G is the pricier smartphone at RM1,899. The Galaxy A34 5G on the other hand is going for RM1,599. You may pre-order either smartphones from now until the 6th of April at Samsung Experience Stores, Samsung Authorised Retailers, and Samsung Online Store (A54 5G here, and A34 5G here).
Pre-orders will come with a free Galaxy Buds Live worth RM549, and a 2 year extended warranty.
One of the key separators between the Galaxy A54 5G and Galaxy A34 5G is the processor. The A54 utilizes Samsung’s proprietary Exynos 1380 processor, while the A34 uses the MediaTek Dimensity 1080. As mentioned earlier, both phones have a 8GB/256GB configuration, but storage is expandable up to 1TB with a MicroSD card.
The Galaxy A54 and Galaxy A34 are identical in terms of appearance from the rear. Each has a rounded edge with a triple camera setup without any sort of encasing.
The front is where you can easily differentiate between the two. Samsung has opted for the middle punch-hole front camera for the Galaxy A54, while the Galaxy A34 sports the teardrop format.
By virtue of the display size, the A34 is slightly larger at 6.6 inches compared to the 6.4 inches on the A54. Aside from size, everything else is pretty much the same. Both displays are Super AMOLED with Full HD+ resolution (1080 x 2340px), and support a maximum 120Hz refresh rate.
While they each have a triple camera setup, there is a slight difference in pixel count. The tri-camera on the Galaxy A54 consists of a 50MP Wide, 12MP Ultrawide, and a 5MP macro lens. The Galaxy A34 is marginally lower with a 48MP Wide, 8MP Ultrawide, and 5MP macro lens. However, there is a larger difference in front camera pixels, with the A54 having a 32MP front camera, and the A34 only having 13MP front camera.

Other than that, most of the specs on the Galaxy A54 and Galaxy A34 are largely similar. Both have a 5,000mAh battery, an in-display fingerprint sensor, and a MicroSD slot. Neither of them have a 3.5mm audio jack.
Even the colour choices overlap for the most part. You can have the Galaxy A54 and Galaxy A34 in Awesome Lime, Awesome Violet, and Awesome Graphite. The only unique choice is the Awesome White on the A54, and Awesome Silver on the A34.
