Samsung Hints at Galaxy Z Fold 7 Ultra Model Releasing This Year

Samsung has teased what might be an Ultra model of the Galaxy Z Fold 7. This comes ahead of the anticipated launch of the brand’s 2025 foldable lineup. Samsung has only ever released two forms of foldable phones – the book-style Galaxy Z Fold and the clamshell Galaxy Z Flip.
However, in a recent press release, the Korean tech giant emphasized the arrival of an Ultra foldable that transforms “into a more immersive entertainment hub, a spacious workspace, or a multitasking powerhouse.”
The short 12-second clip didn’t give much away either. It only portrayed a rectangular silhouette that opened into a book-style foldable – which is how we can deduce it’s the Ultra variant of the Fold and not the Flip, as the Flip is a clamshell foldable.

The accompanying write-up didn’t clue much in, except that the device was birthed from users demanding “bigger screens, better cameras and new ways to connect and create,” and how this was going to give users “an Ultra-experience that goes beyond a simple list of upgraded features in a smaller and more portable form factor.”
What is certain, though, is that the Ultra will not miss out on any of Samsung’s Galaxy AI features. It goes on to mention a few scenarios where users could benefit from AI, including using voice controls to find the perfect restaurant, or finishing off an unsent work email.
The teaser ends with “The Ultra experience is ready to unfold.”
Whether or not there will be two book-style foldables – the Z Fold 7 and Z Fold 7 Ultra – or if the Ultra model is simply a rebrand of the Z Fold 7 with an Ultra suffix, is still up in the air.
It looks like we’ll have to wait just a little longer to get the full picture. Samsung has not yet announced the official date for the Galaxy Unpacked event where the foldables will be unveiled. But, based on past launches, it’s expected to take place in early July of this year.
