Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 and Fold5 officially revealed at Galaxy Unpacked
Samsung has rolled back the curtains on their next generation of smartphone foldables – the Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Z Fold5.
The unveiling took place at the Galaxy Unpacked event in Seoul, which, alongside the foldables, also saw the introduction of the Galaxy Watch6 and Galaxy Tab S9 Series.
Galaxy Z Flip5 Specs
The Z Flip5 was undoubtedly the star of the show with its new 3.4″ cover screen. The Flex Window as Samsung calls it is a vast and much awaited improvement from the 1.9-inch cover screen of last year’s Z Flip4.
A bigger screen also means wider functionality, with users now able to reply messages via a pop-up QWERTY keyboard rather than quick pre-set messages. A host of other features, including Samsung Wallet, Quick Settings panel, and Notifications menu, can all be easily accessed through the cover screen.
Like it’s predecessor, you can use the cover screen as a mirror to frame yourselves for selfies or group photos. The dual cameras, consisting of a 12MP main camera and a 12MP ultra-wide, are located next to the cover display.
The clamshell foldable opens up to reveal a 6.7-inch 1080p AMOLED display with 120Hz adaptive refresh rates. Located at the top is a 10MP punch hole selfie camera.
The Galaxy Z Flip5 utilizes the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 For Galaxy CPU, the same as the S23 Series released early this year.
It’s powered by a 3,700mAh battery, with 25W fast charging capabilities.
The Galaxy Z Flip5 will be available for pre-order soon on Samsung’s official Malaysia website with a starting price of RM4,499 for the 8GB+256GB variant, and RM4,999 for the 8GB+512GB variant.
Galaxy Z Fold5 Specs
Onto the next Samsung foldable, the Galaxy Z Fold5 features a 6.2″ display as the cover screen. When opened, it reveals a 7.6″ main screen with 120Hz adaptive refresh rates and 1,750nits brightness.
There is a triple rear camera setup consisting of a 10MP telephoto, a 50MP wide-angle, and a 12MP ultra-wide.
It’s powered with the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 For Galaxy CPU, and packs 4,400mAh battery.
When folded, the Z Fold5 still holds a slim form factor with only 13.4mm thickness.
The Galaxy Z Fold5 will soon be available for pre-order on Samsung’s official Malaysia website with a starting price of RM6,799 for the 12GB+256GB variant; RM7,299 for the 12GB+512GB variant; and RM8,299 for the 1TB+12GB variant.
