Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus Caught Fire Without Charging, Here’s What Went Down

A Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus unit in South Korea reportedly caught fire after overheating while not connected to a charger, raising concerns among Galaxy users. The incident, first reported on Samsung Korea’s official forum, has drawn comparisons to the Galaxy Note 7 battery issue that occurred nearly a decade ago.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Plus Overheats, And Then Catches Fire

According to the forum post, the owner noticed the phone becoming unusually hot during use before it emitted a loud popping sound and burst into flames after being dropped to the floor. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but the device was completely destroyed in the process.
The owner brought the damaged phone to a Samsung Service Center, where the company has begun an internal inspection to determine the cause of the fire. Notably, the phone was not charging when the incident occurred, suggesting the issue might extend beyond charging-related heat buildup. Possible causes include a faulty battery, excessive background app activity, or heat management issues related to the device’s hardware.
The Galaxy S25 series is powered by either the Exynos 2500 or Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset, both designed for high performance. However, early user feedback has highlighted higher-than-usual temperatures under heavy workloads.
As of now, Samsung has not released an official statement. Further diagnostics are expected to confirm whether the issue is linked to a specific defect or hardware configuration. While this may turn out to be a one-off case, the situation has drawn attention due to Samsung’s history with battery-related safety concerns. Until the investigation concludes, Galaxy S25 users are advised to monitor their device temperature during extended use.
