The S22 Ultra is the first in Samsung’s S series to introduce a built-in silo specifically for the S-Pen. The S-Pen slot isn’t new to Samsung smartphones, but was previously only seen on the now-discontinued Note series.

The S22 Ultra is the only variant in the Galaxy S22 series to feature an S-Pen, and the only one that sports the squarish look akin to the Galaxy Note. The base model S22 keeps to the rounded edges observed in prior years.

Both models are powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, which was the latest flagship processor at the time of release in 2022. Additionally, they are both IP68 dust- and water-resistant.

The S22 Ultra is the larger sibling with a 6.8-inch Edge Quah HD+ display, while the S22 is kept compact with a 6.1-inch Full HD+ display.

A significant difference between the two lies in the camera systems. The S22 Ultra is undeniably superior with its 108MP wide-angle camera and two 10MP telephoto cameras. It also carries a groundbreaking 100x Space Zoom and a 40MP front camera.

The only similarity between the S22 and S22 Ultra in terms of camera systems is the 12MP Ultra wide camera.

Other than that, the S22 cameras still impresses with a 50MP wide-angle and a single 10MP telephoto camera. Zoom capabilities goes as far as 30x, and its front camera performs decently at 10MP.

There are also big differences in battery with the S22 Ultra carrying a 5,000mAh battery with 45W Super Fast Charging. This, compared to the 3,700mAh battery and 25W Super Fast Charging on the base S22.
