Samsung Galaxy S22 series now open for pre-orders in Malaysia

Samsung has just announced its 2022’s Galaxy S-series flagship smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S22 series which consists of the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+ and Galaxy S22 Ultra.

With the discontinuation of the Galaxy Note-series, the S Ultra-series can be said to have replaced the Note-series as it provides support of the S Pen.

Galaxy S22 Series Overview

1. Built & Design

The design of the Galaxy S22 series is for the most part fairly similar its predecessor, the Galaxy S21. With slight curves around the corners and a signature camera bump on the top left corner, the S22 series remains easily recognisable. In terms of built, the S22 series comes with a slight upgrade with a glass back (Gorilla Glass Victus+), aluminum frame and an IP68 rating.

The S22 Ultra however, has a significantly different design altogether. It is less curvy on the corners and does not have a camera bump on the rear panel to host its camera set. Instead, each camera is slightly jut. It is also worth noting that the S22 Ultra comes with a pen slot for the S Pen.

2. Display

The Galaxy S22 Ultra sports a larger 6.8inch Edge QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with an adaptive 1~120Hz refresh rate. Whereas the S22+ and S22 get 6.6-inch and 6.1-inch respectively in FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X with an adaptive refresh rate of 10~120Hz. An ultrasonic fingerprint scanner was used on all the Samsung Galaxy S22 series.

Perhaps, the most impressive aspect of the display is its ability to support up to 1,750 nits of brightness. With this, it is certain that you’ll be able to enjoy and great viewing experience even under the fiercest sunlight.

3. Camera

As for the camera set, the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra is equipped with a more comprehensive camera setup for both its front and rear. Featuring a 108-megapixel f/1.8 with OIS main camera alongside a 12-megapixels ultrawide and two telephotos; a 3x Optical Zoom with OIS 10-megapixels and a 10x Optical Zoom with OIS 10-megapixels which can zoom up to 100X Space Zoom. The Ultra also get a bigger front camera sensor of 40-megapixels.

As for the Galaxy S22 and S22+ has the same camera setup; 50-megapixels f/1.8 with OIS main camera, 12-megapixels ultrawide and 3x Optical Zoom with OIS 10-megapixels telephoto. The front camera is the standard 10-megapixels found on the previous S21 series.

4. Processor

Samsung fans can rejoice! Samsung Malaysia has decided to bring the Qualcomm processor for its Galaxy S-series, which is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1!

This by far is the most exciting news for fellow Malaysians as fans will no longer need salvage imported sets or face overheating and poor GPU performance.

5. Battery & Support

The Samsung Galaxy S22 series is backed with a 5,000 mAh, a 4,500 mAh battery and 3,700 mAh on the Galaxy S22 Ultra, Galaxy S22+ and Galaxy S22 respectively. Supports 15W wireless charge and 45W wired fast charging on the Galaxy S22 Ultra and Galaxy S22+ whereas the vanilla only supports up to 25W wired fast charge.

Samsung promised the Samsung Galaxy S22 series to receive 4 major software updates and 5 years of security updates. Meaning it will receive up to Android 16 as it preloaded with Samsung’s latest OneUI based on Android 12.
