March 13, 2024

Samsung will extend its Galaxy A Series with the imminent launch of the Galaxy A55 5G and Galaxy A35 5G in Malaysia. Samsung Malaysia has not yet confirmed the official pricing in MYR, nor its local launch date as of yet, but we do have specification details made available via the Samsung Newsroom.

In terms of aesthetic, not much has changed from its predecessor, the Galaxy A54 5G. The Galaxy A55 5G still sports the triple vertically arranged camera setup with a clean rear panel. There is a slight difference in size though, with the Galaxy A55 5G now a tad bit bigger with a 6.6″ AMOLED display versus the 6.4″ display on the A54 5G. You can expect Full HD+ resolution as well as 120Hz maximum refresh rates on the A55 5G.

Camera arrays on the Galaxy A55 5G are maintained with a 50MP main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide, and a 5MP macro lens; and so is the 13MP front camera. The same can be said about batteries, with the A55 5G powered by a 5,000mah battery.

Lastly, although not mentioned in Samsung’s official editorial, GSMArena reports that the A55 5G will be powered with the Exynos 1480 chipset.

Moving on, Samsung has finally decided to swap out the tear drop front camera that was on the A34 5G to a more standard punch-hole format on this year’s A35 5G.

Just like on the A55 5G, the A35 5G will sport the same 6.6″ AMOLED Full HD+ display with maximum 120Hz refresh rates. Now that both these have a 6.6″ panel along with a front punch-hole camera, the two become pretty much indistinguishable from each other.

As for processor, the Galaxy A35 5G will now utilize the Exynos 1380 chipset that was on the Galaxy A54 5G.

There isn’t much changes in the camera arrays, except that the main camera has been bumped up from 48MP to 50MP on the Galaxy A35 5G. This is flanked by the same 8MP ultra-wide and 5MP macro lens from its predecessor. The A35 5G is powered by a 5,000mAh battery.

If you’re wondering if the A Series gets the same 7 years of Android and security updates that’s on the S Series, it unfortunately does not. Instead, there will only be 4 generations of Android OS and One UI upgrades and five years of security updates for the Galaxy A55 5G and A35 5G.

Although no official pricing has been given yet, we can expect these device to be launched below the RM2,000 mark. As a reference, the Galaxy A54 5G and Galaxy A34 5G were priced at RM1,899 and RM1,599 respectively.
