Samsung displays Galaxy Ring for the first time at MWC2024
After teasing the Galaxy Ring briefly last month at the launch of the Galaxy S24 Series, Samsung has finally put the new wearables on display at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024.
The Galaxy Ring is a health-centric device which provides a less invasive way of health tracking as compared to smart watches. On that note, you will get similar health measurements, including heart rate monitoring, respiratory rate, and in-depth sleep statistics including night movements and sleep latency; after which a Vitality score of overall wellness will be calculated for health benchmarking.
This isn’t to say that the Galaxy watches will become redundant, as Samsung has stated that combining the two will provide a more accurate an deeper insight into your health.
Since there isn’t any display on the ring, all data will be synced with the Samsung Health app. By virtue of this, it would seem you would need a compatible Galaxy smartphone to work with the ring. Samsung has not explicitly stated the compatibility requirements just yet.
The Galaxy Ring will comes in a variety of sizes, ranging from US finger size 5 – 13. So far, three colours were put on display at the MWC 2024, with them being Ceramic Black, Platinum Silver, and Gold.
In an Editorial piece by Dr. Hon Pak, the VP & Head of Digital Health Team at Samsung Electronics, the Galaxy Ring aims to “offer users an all-new way to simplify everyday wellness, empowering them with greater insights and more ways to understand themselves day and night.”
We still don’t have indication as to the exact date the Galaxy Ring will debut, except that it will come “later this year.” There is still also no news of its official pricing or any upcoming regional launches.
