Samsung Expands SSD Lineup with 8TB 9100 PRO, Its Largest Consumer SSD to Date

Samsung Malaysia has officially released the 9100 PRO 8TB PCIe 5.0 NVMe SSD, marking its largest-capacity consumer SSD to date. This new model completes the existing 9100 PRO series lineup, which previously offered 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB variants. It is designed for demanding tasks such as loading AI models, high-resolution video editing, and modern gaming, with performance aimed at AI users, creative professionals, and gamers alike.

The 9100 PRO 8TB delivers sequential read speeds of up to 14,800 MB/s and write speeds of up to 13,400 MB/s. In terms of random performance, the SSD achieves 2,200K IOPS for read operations and 2,600K IOPS for write, effectively doubling the sequential performance over previous generations.
Samsung also claims that the new 8TB version is 49% more power-efficient than its predecessor, thanks to the company’s 5nm controller and firmware optimisations. For thermal control, the heatsink variant features an 11.25mm slim profile, providing effective heat dissipation while remaining compact. The drive is also officially compatible with PlayStation 5 consoles, making it a viable upgrade for console users seeking additional high-speed storage.

The Samsung 9100 PRO 8TB SSD is now available in Malaysia and can be purchased with or without a heatsink. The heatsink version is priced at RM4,269, while the non-heatsink variant is priced slightly lower at RM4,239. Buyers can find the SSD through the Samsung Online Store, the Samsung Official Stores on Shopee and Lazada, as well as authorised Samsung retailers nationwide.
