RON95 to Be Reduced from RM2.05 to RM1.99 Per Litre; 16 Million Malaysians to Benefit

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has confirmed that the price of RON95 fuel will be reduced from RM2.05 per litre to RM1.99 per litre, effective September 30. This initiative is expected to benefit 16 million Malaysians, with each citizen entitled to 300 litres of RON95 per month.

The government also confirms that no registration is required to be eligible for the RON95 subsidy. Citizens only need to use their MyKad to verify their nationality at the reader machines, which will be installed at petrol station shops and pump terminals.
Bermula 30 September ini, seluruh rakyat Malaysia akan menikmati harga baharu RON95 pada RM1.99 seliter dengan hanya menggunakan MyKad di kaunter dan pam, atau menerusi aplikasi stesen minyak.

While no registration is needed, the government advises Malaysians to ensure that their MyKad chip is still functioning and that their driver’s license is valid. If you have recently redeemed the RM100 SARA aid, that means your MyKad chip is working fine.
Alternatively, Malaysians can also use e-wallets such as TNG eWallet and third-party applications from petrol brands like Setel by Petronas or CaltexGo.
The subsidized RON95 rates will be implemented in stages, with the 300,000 soldiers and police benefiting first, starting on 27 September.

B40 households and the M40 group receiving Sumbangan Tunai Rakyat (STR) will be able to enjoy the rates starting 29 September. On 30 September, the subsidized RON95 will be extended to all other eligible Malaysians.
The RON95 subsidy will not be available to non-citizens and large corporations, as it is only intended for citizens. For those ineligible, the price of RON95 will remain at RM2.60 per litre.
