MyDigital ID to link with all govt apps soon, says rep - Twentytwo13

With more government services going digital, Malaysians are now encouraged to register for MyDigital ID — a secure digital identity meant to make it easier (and safer) to log in to official platforms. The good news? You can register entirely on your smartphone without needing to visit a kiosk.

Whether you are trying to access e-Tanah, JPJ, or even health records on MySejahtera, MyDigital ID will soon be the default login method. Here is how to sign up, use it, and what to do if something goes wrong.

Before you begin, prepare your MyKad and ensure your phone has a working camera and internet connection. Then download and install the MyDigital ID app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

Step 1: Register Online

Open the MyDigital ID app and tap ‘Register Online’. Enter your email address, then key in the one-time password (OTP) sent to your inbox. After that, fill in your full name and MyKad number.

Step 2: Verify Your Identity

Next, use your phone’s camera to take a clear photo of your MyKad (front and back). Then, complete the facial recognition scan (e-KYC) as instructed in the app.

Step 3: Set Your Password

Create a secure password with at least 8 characters, and confirm it. This will be the password you use for future logins.

Step 4: Registration Complete

Once verified, your Digital Identity is securely stored in the MyDigital ID app, ready for use.

Where You Can Use MyDigital ID?

MyDigital ID is currently accepted on several government platforms. These include:

  • MySejahtera (for health services and vaccine records)
  • JPJ (Road Transport Department services)
  • e-Tanah (land and property-related matters)

When you log in to these services on your desktop or laptop, just select QR login, scan the code with your MyDigital ID app, enter your password, and you are in.

It was recently announced that MyDigital ID will soon be the only way to log into the MyJPJ and MyBayar PDRM app. So if you haven’t registerd for MyDigital ID, you are advised to do so in the near future!

What If You Forget Your Password or Change Your Phone?

If you delete the app, forget your password, or switch to a new phone, you can still recover or renew your MyDigital ID using the app. You will need to:

  • Retake photos of your MyKad
  • Re-verify your face via e-KYC
  • Re-enter your personal details

The process is similar to your first registration. And if your digital certificate has expired, the app allows you to renew it within 90 days by following the same steps.

A Reminder on Security

Just like your physical MyKad, your MyDigital ID is tied to your identity, so do not share your password and keep your phone secure. Also, if your phone is lost or damaged, it is best to reset your digital ID through the app as soon as possible.

Who Can Register, and Is It Free?

Yes — the MyDigital ID app is free, and registration does not cost anything. It is open to all Malaysian citizens aged 18 and above with a valid MyKad. More features and integrations are expected by the end of 2025, including in banking and private sector platforms.
